After much thought and reflection, we’ve made the decision that we will not be having any more litters.

Being a responsible breeder requires a tremendous investment- health testing, veterinary care, proper planning, and an incredible amount of time and dedication. While we are always willing to give our dogs all the time in the world, we no longer have the space or capacity to continue providing the level of testing and care that we believe is absolutely essential for a responsible breeding program.

As costs continue to rise, we’ve also found that many inquiries are seeking very low-cost options. We’ve always tried to keep our pricing fair and reasonable, but unfortunately that hasn’t always worked out in our favor.

The good news is that our ladies will now be enjoying a very happy and well-deserved retirement- full of naps, treats, and being spoiled just like they deserve. 🐾

We have truly loved every litter and are incredibly grateful for the amazing Frenchie families who have welcomed our puppies into their homes. Your support has meant the world to us, and we’ll always cherish being part of your journeys. Thank you for being part of ours.

We have been struggling with Luna and I’m wondering if anyone has insight or experience with these symptoms.

A few weeks ago, Luna started vomiting, standing in one place, stiff as a board. We called the vet she was established with and were told she needed to be seen, but they had no availability (that’s a whole different rant, but I digress). We ended up being seen at Grimm Tails - who has saved our butts more than once. By the time we arrived, she had a fever over 105.

Blood tests were normal.
X-ray was normal.

The vet suspected pancreatitis, and she was put on antibiotics, pain medication, prednisone, and given fluids.

Two days after completing the prednisone, she began shivering, wasn’t eating, and was very crabby. Her temperature was 102.

We took her back in immediately.
Her temp was back up to 103.
Blood tests were normal again.

She was put back on prednisone, a different antibiotic, and given more fluids.

Since then, her appetite has been up and down, and she is not her usual peppy self. Today her temperature was low. We are still weaning her off this round of prednisone.

We are at a loss with all tests returning normal.

Has anyone been through something similar?

While I’m on my soapbox… let’s talk about this term “forced breeding.”

It’s RIDICULOUS.

Responsible breeders do not “force” anything. They don’t shove dogs together in cages and crank out puppies like a factory. That’s what puppy mills do — and we should absolutely condemn that.

But ethical breeders? They carefully plan every pairing. They prioritize the health, temperament, and well-being of both the dam (female) and the sire (male). They don’t breed every cycle. They give their dogs time to recover. And they RETIRE their dogs when it’s no longer safe or healthy for them to continue.

Calling that “forced breeding” is not just inaccurate — it’s offensive to the people out here doing it right. Breeding done with care, compassion, and intention is not the enemy. Irresponsibility is.

Let’s get the language right. Let’s stop painting everyone with the same brush.

Unpopular opinion? Maybe. But here it is: “Adopt don’t shop” isn’t the whole story.

I’m so tired of the judgment that comes with choosing to buy a dog from a reputable breeder. Not a puppy mill. Not a pet store. A responsible, ethical breeder who health tests, socializes, and genuinely cares about the animals they bring into the world.

Some people need specific breeds for allergies, temperament, work, or personal reasons—and that doesn’t make them bad people. Not every shelter dog is the right fit for every home. And honestly? Shaming someone for doing their research and making a thoughtful, lifelong commitment is missing the point.

🔥👉The goal should be responsible pet ownership.👈🔥

Period.

Whether that means adopting from a shelter or buying from a breeder who’s doing it right, both can be good, ethical, and loving decisions.

Let’s stop turning this into a moral battleground.
