The best thing you can do for your pet is be prepared for holidays and celebrations that may cause stress and anxiety.
Make sure your pets have identification. ID tags and Microchips are the best way to ensure your lost pets get back to you, but for that to happen, the information on the tag needs to be current and the Microchip needs to be registered.
Is your yard secure enough to contain your pet if they are frightened? We recommend keeping your pet on leash outside – even in your own yard – during stressful celebrations.
Turn on a TV or radio for background noise.
If you are going to a party, plan on leaving your pet at home. Loud noises, unfamiliar places and crowds can all be very frightening to pets and there’s a greater risk of pets becoming spooked and running away.
Have a current photo of your pet in case they should escape.
Walk your dog before the celebrations or storms start so they can stay inside.
