Oglala Pet Project (OPP) Oglala Pet Project is a non-profit organization serving community members and pets on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.

To improve the quality of life for rez pets through education, spay/neuter, pet wellness assistance & the re-homing or networking of abandoned or unwanted pets on Pine Ridge! Only through a network of volunteers and partnering organizations, both on and off the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, can OPP help needy pets. We appreciate your on-going support of our efforts.

Meet Winks! Winks came to foster care a few days ago after receiving emergency surgery to remove his eye that was ruptured and not able to be saved . Winks is now struggling with fluctuating kidney levels and upper respiratory infection. This little cat has only been alive for a few months and struggled with so much. Will you take a minute today and just send a few good thoughts to this little boy, he can use all the positive energy he can get. We are hopeful with continued medical support his little body won’t give up and he will be able to find a family some day. Welcome to OPP Winks, we got you.

Some of you may remember Perseus from a few months ago. He came to us with a broken front leg and needed immediate surgery to pin and correct and heal it. This pup was on his best behavior, the pin healed his leg correctly and there is no amputation needed. Now “Percy” is ready for his next step, a family. This teen pup is great with other dogs and loves to play with with them or can be self entertained as well. He loves toys especially if they squeak. He is kennel and fully potty trained and is working on basic commands. He’s smart and quick to learn. Applications for Perseus can be requested by emailing [email protected]

Missing Dog from Kyle/ No Flesh RD area

Named Thor. Responds to “mičhíŋkši” (MEE-Ching-she)
he's a year and 10m old, extremely people friendly German shepherd husky mix. (Not pure bred) he has an agouti coat, short tail, gold eyes and orange diamond pattern around his eyes and He hasn't been seen in a week, Last know to be wearing Blue Collar, but has a streak of taking them off. Rena…..she is all girl! She gets along well with the dogs and cats, if she could figure out how to get a cat to play life would be better. She is a lover and likes to hang close to her foster mom. Rena is a great outdoor companion and a best snuggler for movie night. She has learned how to kennel and is trying hard at potty training. She’s learning sit and is treat motivated. If someone needs more love in their life this blondie is just the ticket. Rena has started her puppy series of vaccinations, deworming and will be spayed and chipped prior to adoption. Who is a good boy? With a face like that Rio doesn’t ever think he will be anything but good. The look that can get away with anything! This sweet pup is ready to find a home to call his own. We welcomed a trio of little puffs recently. Despite eye infections they are eating well and we put them on sleep and grow cycle. We are hopeful they will thrive and become little characters in a few weeks. For now they are needing KMR milk replacer to help that growing cycle be successful. Red has turned into a big kid over night and has graduated neonatal care into a regular foster home where he will continue learning how to be a good boy. He’s so unique from his coloring to his mask to his little bob tail. This group is full of energy so needs an active home with lots of mental stimulation.
