☀️ Heat can become dangerous faster than you think.

Hot weather doesn’t just mean discomfort—it can become an emergency.
Signs of heat stroke in pets:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Bright red gums
🐾 Weakness or collapse
🐾 Vomiting/diarrhea
🐾 Disorientation
🐾 Excessive drooling
If you suspect overheating:
✔ Move to shade or AC
✔ Offer cool (not ice-cold) water
✔ Wet paws/body with cool water
✔ Contact your veterinarian immediately
Remember: pavement, humidity, and limited airflow matter just as much as temperature.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be terrifying for our pets. 🎆🐾

Today is the day to double-check that your pets are safe, secure, and comfortable before the fireworks begin.

Loud booms and flashing lights can cause pets to panic, shake, pace, hide, bolt, or try to escape. This time of year is one of the biggest times for pets to run away, so a little preparation can make a huge difference.

Before tonight, make sure to:

🏡 Check fences, gates, collars, harnesses, and leads
🐕 Bring pets inside before dark
🎶 Set up calming support like sound machines, calming music, or a quiet safe room
🌿 Have holistic calming options or vet-approved medications ready if your pet needs them
🏷️ Make sure ID tags and microchip information are current
🚪 Keep doors and windows secure when guests are coming and going

Your pet’s safety and comfort come first. Give them a cozy place to hide, keep their routine calm, and if you are able, stay close if they need extra reassurance. ❤️

Our biggest needs are nights, from 8:00–10:30 PM, and weekends.

Important Heat Safety Update

With extreme heat expected next week, Pawsitively Spoiled will be minimizing outdoor exposure for the safety and health of both the dogs we walk and our pet sitters.

When temperatures and heat index values reach dangerous levels, pavement, sidewalks, sand, and even grass can become unsafe for pets. Hot surfaces can burn paw pads, and extended time outside can increase the risk of overheating, dehydration, and heat exhaustion.

During these conditions, walks may be adjusted to include:

Shorter potty breaks instead of full walks
More time indoors in a cool, safe environment
Fresh water breaks and close monitoring
Avoiding hot pavement whenever possible
Walking only in shaded or grassy areas when safe

Our goal is always to give your pets the best care possible while keeping them protected. We appreciate your understanding as we make these temporary adjustments during extreme heat.
