East Tennessee is feeling the loss of an incredible icon. Dolly Parton has always been more than a beloved entertainer. She was an avid animal lover and a passionate advocate for children, literacy, education, and giving back to her community.

While we may not be able to give back in all the ways Dolly has, AESC – Knoxville aspires to carry forward the values she has shared with the world: kindness, compassion, generosity, and caring for those who need us most.

Meet Amanda Gillenwater, our Assistant CSR Manager!

Amanda’s journey with AESC - Knoxville is especially meaningful. She first came to us when her own fur babies received care here. Now, she gets to help other families through some of their most difficult moments.

Amanda has been an incredible force on our CSR team, always ready to lend a helping hand and greet clients with her warm smile. She loves being there for people during challenging moments, sharing, “I love being a spot of kindness during a hard time for people and their pets.”

Outside of AESC, Amanda is a proud mom to 2 daughters AND a pet mom to three dogs, one rabbit, and one cat! We’re so grateful to have her as part of our team. If you happen to see her, please say hello!

BIG THINGS ARE COMING TO AESC KNOXVILLE! 🚨

Last week, we officially broke ground on the future home of AESC Knoxville, and we couldn’t be more excited!

We celebrated this exciting milestone with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony alongside our incredible community and partners. This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter as we expand our hospital and our ability to provide exceptional emergency and specialty care.

Now the countdown to 2027 begins! We can’t wait to take you along for the journey. 💙

Meet Redford! ❤️

This sweet 8-month-old puppy came to us critically ill with a septic abdomen and required urgent surgical intervention. Our Surgery team performed an exploratory laparotomy (ex lap) to identify and address the source of infection.

After surgery, Redford spent a couple of days with us in the ICU, where our team closely monitored him and supported him through his recovery. 🏥🐾

We’re so happy to say that Redford recovered wonderfully and was able to continue his journey home! His resilience throughout his hospitalization was truly incredible. ❤️

Dr. Phipps brings kindness, dedication, and a genuine love for helping animals to every patient she meets. She understands that bringing a pet to the hospital, especially during an emergency, can be overwhelming. She strives to provide comfort, reassurance, and exceptional care every step of the way.
