Happy 10th Birthday Winston!

The Face of Fitnacity the dog that has shaped who I am as a trainer today. All of my dogs have taught me lessons, but he has taught me the most. He is unforgiving of handler errors, independent, and a dog who a working relationship with wasn’t automatically built in. My lesson in the importance of genetics and that ‘it’s all how you raise them’ is utter BS. He is a tenacious terrier and very particular on his rules, but he is also a goofy lovable boy.

☀️ Summer Break from School is almost here! ☀️
That means a shift in hours as I balance Dog Trainer Lela and Mom Lela.

I will be available for daytime lessons Monday-Wednesday. Thursday and Friday will be evenings only.

There will be two Summer Breaks!
July 1-3 I’ll be in Michigan for the Icelandic Sheepdog National with Alda and am presenting on Canine Fitness!
July 20-24 is our annual Hatteras Trip 🏖️
All classes will skip these weeks!

Check out the website for Summer classes and remember I offer make up lessons if you have a vacation! If you need more flexibility reach out about private lessons!

Alda and I hopping on the Pop Stand bandwagon (see what I did there). Enjoy a little glimpse into me progressing through a training puzzle.

I was struggling to get a stand in heel for Rally as poofy girl would melt with a kick back or turn to face me like in conformation. She offered this once when playing around with stands and it is so cute.

Sometimes you have to get creative and work with what the dog gives you vs what you expect. All 3 of my rally dogs preform their stands differently!

June Snack Walks are ready for sign up!

Emily and I decided to take advantage of this time of year and give you 3 for the month of June and picked our favorite spots.

Baker Park is always great for the variety of distractions we encounter and a Frederick staple. Pinecliff brings the distractions, but also the water! Bring a towel and don’t be afraid to get wet!

Fitnacity is an AKC Fit Dog Club so walks can count towards Fit Dog Title requirements!

All Snack Walks are open to Fitnacity and students. We enjoy group walk, coach through training opportunities and have some structured training at the end. If you aren’t sure if a Snack Walk would be a good fit for your dog, reach out!

Want to join Emily and I for a Snack Walk? We just dropped our May walk schedule. Take advantage of the warm weather and take your training skills on the road.

Each walk is an hour group walk with some training set ups and coaching. Walks are open to Fitnacity and Mischief and Manners students within the past year. Links to sign up in the stories or on my website!
