Appalachian K9 Training Center

Appalachian K9 Training Center AK9 is your complete training source. Our goals are to strengthen the relationship between dog and handler.

We also provide a "worry free, hands on" boarding service. Our Training Center is committed to providing services for all your canine life stages. We believe the easiest way to raise a good canine citizen is to start early. Puppy Kindergarten class is geared towards establishing good puppy habits from the start. One of the most important skills our graduates learn is how to communicate through foc

us and obedience. Our teenage canines offer different challenges, so we provide a group class that is geared to socialize all dogs. This class is structured for all of our canine friends – from the young and inexperienced to the senior – all are welcome. This class has a goal of each participant becoming a Canine Good Citizen (CGC). All our Canine Good Citizen's are introduced to a whole world of training opportunities – private or group obedience class, AKC sport classes; agility, rally or private working dog sport classes; tracking and off leash training. There is always more than one way to train our dogs and to correct problems. The best method is the one that works best for you and your dog. We are all different and one particular method won't always work for everyone. Keep in mind that nobody knows your dog better than you. My best advise is to try and keep one step ahead of your dog and to correct bad behaviors right away, before they develop into habits.

Meet Flossie! (Flo for short)
She is 7 month old full blooded RedboneCoonhound. My ex-husband bought her for our youngest daughter, but as anyone knows that has had experience with Redbones- they aren’t a good breed to have in a townhome/apartment complex, and for someone that travels and doesn’t have a lot of time to work with the dog. My daughter was looking to rescue an older dog, but ended up getting attached to Flo. My ex got an eviction notice, and she ended up at my house. I also do not have the time or space that Flossie needs to thrive. She loves to cuddle at bedtime, needs someone that has property where she can be her vocal self :) She has been around our cats - not aggressive with them, but more so inquisitive. I have two large dogs she also has been around. I do have papers for her. My ex was hoping to get part of the money back for what he paid for her, but we would love to just have her going to a good home as well as possibly being someone that would let our 18 year old daughter visit her still on occasion.
