The irony of National Pet Obesity Awareness Day falling on the SAME day as National Dessert Day is not lost on us. šŸ˜‚šŸ°
So while we humans are over here celebrating with a little something sweet, our pets would like to formally request that we mind our own business about their waistlines. šŸ˜‚
But all jokes aside, maintaining a healthy weight is incredibly important for our pets. Extra pounds can put added stress on their joints, contribute to diabetes, heart and breathing problems, and even shorten their lifespan. And because weight gain happens gradually, it isnā€™t always easy to recognize when our own pet has become overweight.
If youā€™re unsure whether your pet is at a healthy weight, weā€™re happy to help! We can assess their body condition, discuss nutrition and portions, and help create a plan to keep them feeling their best.
So enjoy your dessert todayā€¦ just maybe donā€™t share the whole thing with the dog.
Happy National Pet Obesity Awareness Day AND National Dessert Day!

šŸ¾ October Pets of the Month! šŸŽƒ
The results are in, and this month we have one very GOOD petā€¦ and one who may need to reconsider some of his life choices.

šŸ† Good Pet of the Month: Leeroy!
Leeroy earned his spot for being the sweetest housemate to all of his cat companions. His socialization skills are absolutely purr-fect!
His reward? A lifelong reservation for snuggles on his favorite Halloween blanket!

šŸšØ Bad Pet of the Month: Colonel Harland David Sanders!
The crime: Being an extra sassy pants to his mom while sheā€™s working the front desk.
The sentence: Cutting the unhealthy umbilical cord connecting him to his motherā€¦ it is time.
(Heā€™s a grown man for crying out loud!)

Congratulations to Leeroy, and better luck next month, Colonel! šŸ˜‚šŸ¾

Start nominating your good or bad pet of the month now for November!!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and itā€™s also a great reminder of how important prevention and early detection can be. šŸ©·
The same is true for our pets! They canā€™t always tell us when something feels wrong, and many health concerns may not show obvious symptoms in the early stages. Routine wellness exams, recommended screenings, bloodwork, and staying up to date on preventative care give our veterinary team the opportunity to catch changes early and help keep your pet healthy for as long as possible.
Prevention isnā€™t just about treating illness. Itā€™s about looking for problems before they become bigger ones.
This October, we encourage everyone to stay proactive about their own health and the health of the furry family members who depend on them. šŸ¾šŸ©·
Early detection matters. Prevention matters.
