As our pets get older, their needs begin to change. They may slow down, sleep a little more, develop some gray around their face, or have trouble doing things that once came easily. While some changes are part of aging, others can be early signs of health problems.

That’s why regular veterinary care becomes even more important during the senior years! Routine senior visits can help us catch changes early, sometimes before your pet is showing obvious symptoms. Depending on your pet’s age and health, your veterinarian may recommend:

🐾 Regular wellness exams
🩸 Routine bloodwork to check organ function and other changes
🦷 Dental exams and dental care
❤️ Heart and lung monitoring
⚖️ Weight and nutrition management
🦴 Evaluation for arthritis, pain and mobility changes
👀 Monitoring changes in vision, hearing, behavior or bathroom habits
💊 Reviewing medications and managing chronic conditions

Today, our hearts are heavy alongside our entire East Tennessee community as we mourn the loss of our beloved Dolly Parton. Dolly was so much more than a global icon—she was the heartbeat of these hills, a beacon of generosity, and a constant reminder of what it means to love your neighbors unconditionally. Her love for people, animals, and the Smokies touched every single corner of our lives. From all of us at Lovell Animal Hospital, we send our deepest condolences to her family, her friends, and every East Tennessean grieving this immense loss. Thank you for the music, the books, the kindness, and a legacy of love that will live on forever. Rest in peace, Dolly. We will always love you. 🕊️❤️

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to our Open House today! We loved getting to spend the afternoon with our wonderful clients, families, and of course, many adorable fluffy faces! 🐶🐱
