Look at what a difference fostering makes❤️🐾

When Tom Tom was in the shelter, he was curled up in a corner, barely moving. He was scared, shut down, and hiding from the world.

Now look at him. Completely stretched out, relaxed, comfortable, and finally feeling safe enough to be himself.

Fostering saves lives.

We never would have seen Tom Tom's personality in the shelter. He needed the love, patience, and safety of a foster home to bring that sweet personality back out.

Now Tom Tom will be going to the adoption floor with photos and a note about what he's really like at home.

That way, potential adopters can see the wonderful cat he is-even though he's shy and hides when he's at the shelter.

This is why fosters are so incredibly important.
Sometimes, all a scared animal needs is a safe place and someone who believes in them.

Did you know we have a trainer on staff at HSTV!? 🐶♥️
Our amazing Anna wears a lot of hats at the shelter— but helping dogs by teaching them to be their best, so they can stay in their homes and out of the shelter, is one of our favorite hats she wears!! 🥰
Behavior can be a big reason people need to surrender or return an animal, and we are grateful to have such a talented, caring trainer as part of our team 💪🐾

These are the most formative months of their lives, and these babies are SMART! They would do incredible in a home getting the one on one training and love that these babies deserve!🐶💕
ALL of the puppies pictured have 50% taken off their adoption fees! Instead of the usual $300 puppy adoption fee, they will all be $150!!

We are making a new shirt for the shelter to be revealed at our Maskfurade gala in October! We have received some great designs already and we would love to see more!
Since we are a shelter who is completely supported by our incredible community with no government funding, we want YOU to help us design it! 🐾

Mast General Store has invited us to set up a gift-wrapping table during the holiday shopping season. This is a wonderful way to connect with the community, spread the word about our organization, and help raise funds for the animals who need us most. ❤️

Here are the dates and times available to us:

2-3 volunteer spots available per shift.

We would LOVE to get these shifts completely booked up! I will be creating all of the gift-wrapping shifts in Better Impact, so please keep an eye out and sign up for any dates and times that work for you.

This is such a great opportunity to get our Humane Society name out into the community while raising money for the animals in our care. No expert wrapping skills required—just come ready to have fun and help out! 😊

THIS is why we love we do at HSTV🥹Raven spent almost an entire year in the shelter system hoping and praying her forever family would find her. Luckily, our friends at Monroe County Friends of Animals - Eastbourne Animal Center were her biggest champions and NEVER gave up on her. She was transferred into our care at the beginning of August, and who could've known that her forever family was in Knoxville waiting to find her?! Being able to help animals all across East Tennessee warms our hearts and makes every day worth it 🥰 CONGRATULATIONS RAVEN!! You are finally going to live the life you have always deserved! ❤🐾

We’re excited to welcome Marianne Canada to the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley Board of Directors! 🎉🐾

Marianne brings a wealth of experience in marketing, communications, audience growth, and strategic thinking to HSTV. As the Director of Marketing and Communications at PetSafe Brands, she combines her professional expertise with a deep passion for animals and the East Tennessee community.

A Knoxville native and proud University of Tennessee graduate, Marianne has spent her career building and growing digital audiences, including launching franchises for HGTV and Food Network. She also continues to give back through her service on the Alumni Advisory Board for UT’s College of Communication and Information.

We’re thrilled to have Marianne join our Board and look forward to the knowledge, creativity, and passion she will bring to our organization as we continue working to create brighter futures for animals in our community.

Zack has been with our organization since 2023 and we could not be more grateful to have his skill set and heart on our team!
Every single animal that walks through our shelter ADORES Zack! Even the ones who can be shut down and scared, Zack always finds a way to become their new best friend.♥️
Being an Animal Care Technician is not an easy job, and Zack is absolutely one of the best! The amount of care he shows each of our animals is truly astounding and just prove his heart and dedication to truly helping animals in need. 🐶♥️🐱
Thank you, Zack, for always showing up for our animals and for being our comedic relief at the shelter! We are so lucky to have you at HSTV! 🎉
