Planning to board your dog over the holidays? Now's the time to check their vaccines. 🐕

Many boarding facilities ask for the Bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine, and some also ask for canine influenza. Some vaccines need a booster a few weeks after the first dose, so starting now means your dog is covered before the holiday rush.

Bordetella is included in every Dog PetWell® Package, and canine influenza can be added on. Walk into your local PetWellClinic® and cross it off the list.

If the sight of the carrier sends your cat under the bed, you're not alone. 🐈 A little practice at home can make vet visits calmer for both of you:

Leave the carrier out as part of the furniture, letting them get used to it.

Add a soft blanket that smells like home.

Drop treats inside, so they associate it with a yummy snack.

A carrier with a removable top makes it easier to examine your cat without pulling them out.

Drape a towel over it on the way in to make them feel safe.

And once you're here, your cat stays in your sight for the whole visit.
Save this for the next time the carrier comes out.

If you've just brought a new dog home, here's what to take care of in the first few weeks:

- Bring their shelter or rescue paperwork, so we can see which vaccines they've already had

- A physical exam, to get a baseline for their health

- Any vaccines they're due for

- Flea, tick and heartworm prevention

- An ID tag with your current phone number
