A little bit about me and my experience/education with horses and riding.
From a very young age, like most horse people, I knew I was a horse girl for life. I started with natural horsemanship in 1995 becoming very proficient over the years with teach groundwork to all personalities of horses.
In 1997 I joined Pony Club and was lucky enough to lease various horses and ride them in dressage and jumping, training and riding whatever was given to me since I couldn’t afford my own horse. These ranged from OTTBs to horses that needed retraining.
When I graduated high school I bought my own horse, a yearling filly, who I raised and trained. I worked for a training barn and breeding barn during college, teaching young horses and learning the ropes of a breeding operation. I rode dressage primarily in my 20s, around my military career and having kids. As I entered my 30s I became very interested in eventing and trained and competed with a school master, as well as bringing along a green four year old.
I bred, raised and helped train my current competition horse Teddy, who is six and we will be showing 2nd and 3rd level dressage this year.
I’ve bred and trained four foals to date, ensuring excellent ground manners and that starting under saddle was very easy for them all.
I continue to take lessons and go to clinics because I truly believe we are never done learning, especially with horses.
I love teaching horses to understand what we’re asking them so that they can become confident to work with.
