This one is a little tough to write. 💛
For the past three years, Barney’s Barkery has been such a special part of my life here on the Outer Banks. What started as a simple idea grew into something I could have never imagined. I’ve met the most incredible customers, watched your pups grow, and built friendships that mean more to me than you know.
Every single person who supported Barney’s Barkery, bought treats for their dogs, stopped by my markets, or shared kind words along the way… thank you. Truly. I have been incredibly blessed.
But sometimes life gently nudges you in a new direction.
So Barney’s Barkery isn’t going away… we’re just taking a little pause. (No pun intended. 🐾)
For now, I’m pivoting into a new adventure that actually takes me back to my roots. Many years ago, I spent time working alongside my dad, surrounded by small businesses and creative sellers. That experience planted a seed in me, and in many ways this next chapter brings me right back to where that story began.
Today, I have four walls, a door, and a sign outside. And from here forward, you can find me in Duck at my new gift shop, Love Duck OBX! 🦆
This little shop is filled with heart, creativity, and the same passion I’ve always poured into Barney’s Barkery. While I won’t be making dog treats for the time being, that doesn’t mean Barney’s Barkery is gone forever. It simply means I’m focusing on this new chapter right now.
This photo is especially meaningful to me because standing beside me are the founders of this store, Joe and Jessica, who I am now taking over from. I could not be more grateful for them. What started as a business transaction turned into something so much more, and I am incredibly thankful to now call them lifelong friends.
To everyone who has supported Barney’s Barkery over the years, I hope you’ll stick with me on this journey. I hope you’ll come follow me over at Love Duck, and I truly hope to see you there. 💛
