🚨 URGENT! 🚨 Our wonderful partner, Heartland Humane Society of MO is currently on an intake freeze due to low funds. We ask our community to consider donating so our rescue can continue to intake cats in need of care.

🚨🐾 **INTAKE FREEZE — WE NEED YOUR HELP** 🐾🚨

Heartland Humane Society of Missouri is currently on an **intake freeze**.

Simply put, our funds are low, and we need time to build them back up so we can continue providing everything the cats already in our care need. ❤️

Being a foster-based rescue doesn’t mean our expenses stop. Every day, we are providing food, medications, vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, testing, veterinary care, and treatment for the cats who are already depending on us. Some need routine care. Others have medical needs that can quickly add hundreds—or thousands—of dollars to our expenses.

Right now, we have to focus our resources on the cats we have already committed to. 🐱💗

An intake freeze is never something we want to do. We know there are cats and kittens in our community who need help, and saying “we can’t right now” is incredibly difficult. But taking in more animals when we don't have the financial resources to properly care for them wouldn't be responsible.

Our goal is to rebuild our funds so we can **lift the freeze and start saying YES again.** 🙏🐾

If you would like to help us get there, donations of any amount truly make a difference. $5, $10, $25 — it all adds up and helps us continue caring for the cats who are already counting on Heartland.

It’s fall, ya’ll! We’re anxiously awaiting fall weather here at the cafe and enjoying all the pumpkin flavored releases. 🍂 Where was your first stop for a pumpkin themed item this year? 🎃

Meet Affogato. This sweet boy had so much interest, but he was marked as adopted so guests were guided to other cats. This weekend, at no fault of his own, his future family decided they could only add one more cat to their home and adopted his brother. 😢 So, the last of our Italian desserts is still waiting for his forever home!

Affogato is orange in appearance… and personality. 🫣 He LOVES to play, especially in loud, crinkly tunnels. When he’s worn out himself and every other cat in the room, he loves to settle down for snuggles.

Affogato needs a playmate in his future home to keep him happy, healthy and entertained. He’s a sweet boy and plays well with other cats, though he does play a little rougher than some. For this reason, we think he’d do better with a very playful cat vs a shy one. 🐈

Buffy has come out of her shell SO much since her dental! 🥹 She interacted with customers this afternoon and had a wonderful time. Thank you SO much for your donations and well wishes for her surgery. We’re overjoyed she’s feeling better and love seeing her become more social and comfortable as she spends more time with us. 💗

Note: She always has access to food and water. It was taken out of the crate briefly for her photoshoot. 😊
