So I got this REALLY nice testimonial today.
I'm sharing it because, well, because I know there are people out there that can identify with this owner.
It's a bit long, but I think it's important for dog owners.
Please share with people who you think it would help.

This is a 5 year old labrador (recently lost tail due to injury) that is a WONDERFUL family pet. Safe. Great with the children, and great around a variety of livestock.
The family loves her. But she has been difficult to live with. She is high energy and high anxiety. The "before" video doesn't do justice to show her energy level and OCD pacing, jumping and spinning behaviors, because she was on medications to decrease her energy levels to help her tail heal after surgery.
The owner asked for help from others on more than one occasion, from vets and trainers, and was recommended behavioral medication, and was told this dog wasn't fixable by the trainer.
It is unfortunate neither a vet, or trainer could offer, or refer her to, real help. Just because they didn't have the skills, this owner thought there was no hope.
Many people give up dogs like this to shelters or rescues.
But not her.
This dog is easily helped. The owner was able to see improvement within hours, not days, weeks, or years.
No punishment was involved. Although I do teach how, and when, to appropriately punish behavior when needed. It is generally quite minimal.
The training equipment being used in this case, is called a Halti, is in use simply because in many cases of high anxiety, it helps create calmness. It is not a muzzle. It is not restrictive. And for a high energy dog that is used to applying extreme pressure on a collar and leash, and an owner with a shoulder injury, this was the best piece of equipment to give the owner control without a lot of force. Actually, with no force. Just guidance.
But not the right equipment for every dog, or owner.
All dogs and owners are evaluated according their needs, abilities and temperament, and trained with the skills and equipment best suited to the best results for them.
There are no cookie cutter methods, or quick fix bandaids.
I teach you how to help your dog become more balanced. So neither of you have to live with the anxiety and frustration that this owner, and dog, were experiencing. Which also affects your relationship.
The first step, evaluation.
The second, introducing a bodywork technique I call Relaxation Response.
The third, helping the owner get control.
And a bigger change than you think, can happen right before your eyes.
Quickly.
Get help.
Get your dog off of medications and learn how to really help them.
And see the difference, like this owner did, in LESS THAN A WEEK!
