Who can resist that happy face? Say hello to Maya, our !⁣
⁣
This Mastiff/Dogue de Bordeaux mix is currently the Pet Adoption Center’s longest dog resident. Maya’s previous owners brought her to us last November because they could no longer care for her due to medical issues they had.⁣
⁣
Maya is super friendly and very loving… and very strong and active! Maya is very sweet and affectionate with caretakers at the shelter. She is also a very smart girl who knows sit, stay, come, down, and shake.⁣
⁣
As a spirited dog with an independent streak, Maya is one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. She is still working on her manners, so Maya would do best in a home with adults willing to work with her to help her become the best dog she can be. Maya is full of energy and loves to play, and tends to stay calmer when the people around her stay calm. She does best when she gets lots of exercise and something to keep her mind busy. Also, caregivers have noticed that Maya does not get along with other dogs and would need to be the only pet in her new home.⁣
⁣
Ready to meet this big beautiful girl? She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Maya’s adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since she is our Pet of the Week, Maya’s adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply.⁣
⁣
Find out more about Maya and her other friends at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions continue by appointment only, so make your reservation on the website. If you have more questions, you can contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email [email protected]⁣

Put some spice into your life with Pepper, our !⁣
⁣
This young tortie girl came to us in May because she was not enjoying the young human in the home. Pepper’s previous owner described her as liking ear scratches and playing with light reflections and lasers, but that she could also be a bit lazy.⁣
⁣
Pepper is an independent kitty who likes to do her own thing. She prefers getting attention on her own terms, and can get overstimulated with petting. Her new family should move carefully and keep an eye out for signs that Pepper might need a break. Because she’s got that independent streak, Pepper is one of our “Rambunctious Red” pets. Caregivers at the Pet Adoption Center have also noticed that Pepper doesn’t seem to get along with other cats, so she may do best as the only cat in her new home.⁣
⁣
Our vet staff says that Pepper has a history of crystalluria, which sometimes causes her to urinate outside of her litterbox. Pepper now has a prescription for Hill’s Science Diet C/D food, which helps resolve and prevent crystals. If you continue Pepper on that food and keep her litterbox area tidy, she is likely to have good hygiene moving forward.⁣
⁣
Do you have room in your heart and home for Pepper? She comes spayed and microchipped, and her adoption includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice. All pets adopted from RASKC also come with 30 days of opt-in pet insurance from . ⁣
⁣
Since Pepper is our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Check out our website at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet to learn all the benefits of having a licensed pet, including Vacation Pet Alert, Free Ride Home, and more!⁣

We’re hopping with excitement about Cordelia, our !

This four-year-old shorthair rabbit was brought in by her previous owner in June because they had too many rabbits and could no longer care for her. Rabbits are intelligent and complex animals who do well in families who understand that they are prey animals, and do not enjoy being picked up or held. This also makes Cordelia one of our “Bashful Blue” personality pets. The best way to bond with Cordelia is to spend time with her on the floor, and shower her with plenty of greens and timothy hay!

Cordelia is a domestic rabbit, and it is recommended that her adopters keep her indoors. The nice thing about having an indoor rabbit is that she can come out of her cage for bunny playtime, in a rabbit-proof area of your home. During this supervised playtime, rabbits often exhibit some of their most fun and interesting behaviors!

This sweet girl would love a family who will interact with her daily to keep her active and social. When rabbits get the space and enrichment they need, they often form deep bonds with their humans.

Like all pets adopted from RASKC, Cordelia’s adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through . Since Cordelia is our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee has been reduced. There’s never been a better time to adopt a pet!

Learn more about Cordelia and all her adoptable friends at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions are by appointment only, so make your reservation online today. If you have questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email [email protected].

We’d like to introduce you to Duke, our !⁣
⁣
This young Rhodesian Ridgeback/German Shepherd mix came to us in June because he wasn’t the right fit for his previous family. Duke lived in a home with another dog, and his previous family describes him as anxious and well trained. ⁣
⁣
At the Pet Adoption Center, Duke has been practicing how to "sit," "stay" "come," "down," and "heel." He is an affectionate lovebug and would be thrilled to play with you at home! Since he is so full of energy and loves to play, Duke is one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. He tends to do best when he has lots of exercise and activities to keep his mind busy. Duke also calms down more when the people around him stay calm. Our caregivers have noticed that Duke seems to do well with other large dogs. When meeting dogs in a new home, he would do best with a slow introduction.⁣
⁣
On outings, Duke does amazing! He is good on a leash, although a little clumsy at times. He will sometimes walk in front of his caretaker, but barely pull. Duke is also very good on car rides – he just sits or lays down. What can we say – Duke is an overall amazing dog!⁣
⁣
Duke has been known to resource guard – food and treats are the treasures he tends to guard. If you take Duke home, he would both benefit from in-home guidance to help manage and improve this behavior.⁣
⁣
Duke also has a small mass on the top of his head, but no diagnostics have been performed. Additional care may be needed after adoption. As with any pet, regular visits with a veterinarian are always recommended.⁣
⁣
Duke is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through . Since he is our Pet of the Week, his adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply.⁣
⁣
Find out more about Duke and his other friends at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Since RASKC continues with Adoptions by Appointment, you’ll need to make a reservation online. If you have more questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email [email protected].⁣

Do you have room in your home and heart for a super sweet senior kitty? Then let us introduce you to Willow, our !⁣
⁣
This Siamese Lynx came to the Pet Adoption Center in early June because her previous owner sadly passed away. Willow has been described as shy, curious, and playful, so she is one of our “Bashful Blue” personality pets.⁣
⁣
Willow is a gentle and loving cat who likes to take things slow. She is affectionate, but also fairly reserved, so she would do best in a calm, quiet home. She may need extra time and attention to warm up to new situations and new people. Also, Willow doesn’t seem to get along well with other cats, so she would do best as an only kitty in her new home.⁣
⁣
Willow has moderate dental tartar and would benefit from a dental cleaning under anesthesia, and may need extractions. As a more mature lady, she may also have other underlying health conditions that have not been identified yet. Regular veterinarian visits are always recommended for every pet, no matter their age.⁣
⁣
Would you like to adopt Willow? She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through . Since she is our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee is reduced, but a pet license fee may still apply.⁣
⁣
Find out more about Willow and all her other friends waiting for their new families on our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions are still by appointment only, so make your reservation on the website. If you have more questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email [email protected].⁣

Looking for an energetic playmate? Look no further than Bella, our !⁣
⁣
This young pittie girl came to the Pet Adoption Center in early June because her previous owner could not care for her anymore. They described Bella as high energy, sweet, and a cuddler.⁣
⁣
While in our care, Bella has been quite rambunctious – her favorite thing to do is run zoomies in the yard! Since she is so full of energy, this playful girl is one of our “Rambunctious Red” pets. She does best when she has lots of exercise and something to keep her mind busy. Caregivers have noted that Bella might not get along with other dogs, so she would do best as the only dog in her new home, or she would need to meet other dogs in the home first.⁣
⁣
Along with working on her doggy manners, Bella has been known to guard her food and toys. If you adopt her, she will benefit from in-home guidance to manage and improve this behavior.⁣
⁣
Bella has a skin condition that is suspected to be caused by allergies. Controlling the allergen is the best treatment and regular veterinary care is recommended. Bella is currently being treated for an ear infection – medication and routine ear cleaning will help resolve this issue, which is often related to allergies. If you have questions about Bella’s health care needs, our staff will be happy to provide information.⁣
⁣
Can you provide the wonderful home that Bella needs? She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through . Since she is our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee is reduced, although a pet license fee may still apply. Learn all about the benefits of pet licensing at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.⁣
⁣
Find out more about Bella and her other friends at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. RASKC continues to do adoptions by appointment, so make a reservation to meet Bella online. If you have more questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email [email protected].⁣

The 4th of July may be fun for people, but it's not fun for pets. Fireworks scare them, and every year dozens of strays end up at our Pet Adoption Center around Independence Day after being spooked by the bangs and booms.⁣
⁣
If you choose to celebrate with fireworks, please keep it safe and sane. These tips from the King County Fire Chiefs Association can help your pet cope with the stress of this noisy holiday.⁣
