We are just about a week away from our August Sleuth Dog trial.
We are excited!!! We have some new participants which we welcome! Our “ seasoned” teams are achieving some excellent trailing skills.
We still have need for a few more volunteers for:
Target( hide for the teams)
Gate steward(help direct teams to start gate )
Check In ( gets team signed in and direct them to waiting area)

Trailing tip
It’s okay to talk to your K-9 partner as you will see in the video. In this video we used our runners vehicle seat as a scent article. Plus there can be many distractions ( horses, other dogs, just critters in general) on the trail. It is okay to correct you K-9 partner. Leave it. Where did they go.

Training trail with K-9 Officer Radar. This is an old video, K-9 Radar was young, very powerful and fast. I talk with my K-9 partner on the trail. The scent article used were the runners sunglasses. You’ll notice as K-9 Radar gets to the covered picnic area he doubles back and goes to a trash can then finds our runner. When our runner was located she said she had walked on the outside edge of the tables saw the trash can doubled back went to the trash can to dispose of a tissue then to her final destination. It’s just so much fun to watch and learn what you K-9 partner is telling you on the trail.

Upcoming BMT Sleuth Dog Trial
August 29 at Casey Jones Park. Elizabeth CO

We are excited for our upcoming trial! Our teams are working hard and progressing so well.
We will be running our first “ Sergeant “ trail. This is a one to one and a half mile track that is 10-12 hours old on multiple surfaces…. This is a great challenge and we are excited for all our teams.

We just wanted to thank everybody for their attendance yesterday for our Sleuth Dog event. Truly a beautiful day with an incredible location and a nice cool breeze. It was a day of celebration for all our participants completed their individual trails successfully! Nicely done ✅! I personally want to thank everyone for your kind words, hugs and kindness given Lisa and I yesterday for the loss of our beloved K-9 Bob. You touched our hearts deeply. Sleuth Dog events are truly a great way to get outside and enjoy a relaxed fun time with your K-9 partners in some really beautiful, unique places and environments. While allowing your K-9 partner to use their powerful hunting abilities. Thank you again for your support! Plus you get a little time with our professional handlers whom like to see you and your K-9 partner succeed and have a great time. Thank you to all our volunteers, runners and FTO’s. Who go above and beyond and definitely get their steps in.
