🔥🐾 𝗜𝗙 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗙𝗘𝗘𝗧… 𝗜𝗧’𝗦 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗜𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗪𝗦. 🐾🔥

It is 𝗕𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗔𝗟 outside right now.

But have you stopped to think about how hot it is for a dog walking on 𝗮𝘀𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗹𝘁, 𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗹𝗸𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱? 🔥

The ground can be 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝟰𝟬° 𝗵𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗶𝗿 — hot enough to 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝘄 𝗽𝗮𝗱𝘀.

So if it’s 90° outside, that pavement may feel like 130° or more under their feet. 🔥

🐶 𝗗𝗢 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗧𝗘𝗦𝗧:
Put the 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱 on the pavement, sidewalk, or sand for 𝟭𝟬 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘀.

🔥 If you can’t hold it there…
🔥 If you would not walk on it barefoot…

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗗𝗢𝗚 𝗪𝗔𝗟𝗞 𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗧.

We saw dogs out on hot surfaces while their owners had on shoes & hats !

Because we are not here to shame first.
We are here to 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽, 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀.
🐾 ( we did tell owners it is too hot for
paws … we got an ugly look)

But please hear this loud and clear:

Walk early. Walk late.
Stay on grass.
Carry them across hot sand.
Use paw protection.
Or leave them home in the cool air.

🌟 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐑𝐒 𝐑𝐎𝐂𝐊 🌟

Today we want to celebrate 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐲 — a longtime friend and an official part of the Friends of Carolina Animals 𝐍𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦. 🐾

Terry has been part of many wonderful projects throughout Georgetown County for years, and we are so proud to have her heart, energy and positive spirit with FOCA.

Her smile is infectious. Her attitude is unwavering. She shows up with kindness, purpose and that “how can I help?” spirit that makes such a difference.

From adoption events to fundraising events to walking dogs, Terry gives back to her 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 in the best way — with love, action and a whole lot of joy. ❤️

Terry Duffy & her husband Tom are also wonderful fosters for both dogs and cats, opening their home and hearts to animals in need and helping them on their journey to finding loving forever families.

Volunteers are the heart of what we do, and Terry reminds us exactly why 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤!

We are always out in the community sharing the mission of Friends of Carolina Animals — helping families, helping shelters, and 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲. 🐶🐱

New World screwworm is serious. It can affect dogs, cats, horses, cows, goats, wildlife, and even people. The larvae do not just feed on dead tissue — they burrow into living flesh and can become life-threatening fast.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫:
🐾 Maggots in a wound
🐾 A wound that is getting bigger, deeper, bleeding, draining, or smells bad
🐾 Pain, swelling, or open sores
🐾 Head shaking, scratching, biting at a wound, acting depressed, hiding, or going off feed
🐾 Wounds around ears, eyes, nose, mouth, ge****ls, belly buttons, cuts, bites, or surgical sites

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐆𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐘.
If you see maggots in a wound, do not wait. Call your veterinarian immediately. Treatment may require removal of the larvae, proper wound care, and medication. Suspected cases should also be reported to animal health officials.

Check your animals daily. Check every cut, scratch, tick bite, surgical site, newborn belly button, and sore spot. Early action can save a life.

This brother-and-sister duo came into the shelter in Kingstree, SC, were posted right away by Williamsburg County Animal Care and Control , networked by SE Coast SC Rescue Collaboration & highlighted— now they are at a fantastic rescue! Final Victory Animal Rescue in West Columbia! 🐾💙

This is why publicizing & networking shelter animals matters.
This is giving them a voice!

Today’s spay/neuter clinic helped prevent countless unwanted litters — and every pet that needed a rabies vaccine got one.

That means healthier pets, safer families, and a stronger community. 🧡

Pets are checked in and ready for their spay and neuter appointments in Pawley’s Island, South Carolina!

And today is about more than spay and neuter. These dogs and cats will also receive their rabies vaccines, helping keep them healthy and protecting our community too.

We’ve been up since 5 AM getting ready, and in just a couple of hours we’ll be in 𝐏𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 helping 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 pets like ;
Daisy 🌸, Maggie, Koby, Banner, Pippy, Peanut, and so many more. 🐾

These animals are coming with families who 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 them and want them healthy, safe, and protected from unwanted litters.

This is not low-cost — it is 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄. Every donation dollar given to Friends of Carolina Animals goes right back into the 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, directly touching dogs and cats who need help.

And if they need a 𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞, we’re making sure they get one too — because rabies prevention protects both animals and people.

🐾 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 🐾

This morning, 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐩𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐬 needed veterinary care. Their shelter does 𝐧𝐨𝐭 have veterinary staff on site, and when animals are sick, they need help quickly.

Because of our 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐬 & 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬, Friends of Carolina Animals was able to step in and get these puppies to a local veterinary office. ❤️

This is exactly why 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 matters.
