The Kingston Animal Shelter provides temporary housing for homeless animals in the community. Animal Control Officers (ACO's) are authorized to enforce state and local laws pertaining to the control, licensing, and treatment of domestic animals for the purpose of protecting public safety, property, and animal welfare.

PSA: The shelter will be closed on Monday Sept 7th in observance of Labor Day. If you need immediate assistance with an animal related issue, please contact Kingston Police Department at 781-585-0523 to have an animal control officer dispatched. We will resume regular business hours Tues, Sept 8th. Everyone have a safe and happy holiday :)

UPDATE: ADOPTION PENDING ALREADY!

This darling lady is Persephone! (pronounced pur-sef-o-knee for those of you not familiar with Greek mythology). And this girl is truly a Goddess. Estimated to be around 3 or 4 years old, Persephone was found as a stray. It's obvious that she belonged to someone at some point as she is extremely affectionate and was already spayed. Sadly, no one has come forward for her so we will find her the perfect home that she deserves. There's nothing bad to say about this little lady. She's the perfect lap cat, vet tolerant, and loves everyone that walks thru the door. She has no issues with dogs, but prefers to be the only cat in the home. We're not sure about children, but she'll likely be fine with kids due to her sweet disposition. Persephone is up to date on all her shots, spayed, and microchipped. UPDATE: THANKS TO OUR AMAZING COMMUNITY, WE HAVE FOUND A DRYER. THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING AND GIVING OUR ANIMALS CLEAN BEDDING!

Sadly, our shelter dryer is on the fritz. With monetary donations at an all time low and the rising cost of vet bills and mouths to feed, we're asking for all the help we can get to afford a new one. If anyone is looking to get rid of a gently used dryer, that would also be helpful. Any suggestions or donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In Loving Memory of "Caymus" 2005-2026😇

Caymus was adopted by Joan Sem, Kingston Animal Shelter's Adoption Coordinator when he was just a young boy. Joan came to the shelter looking to adopt a cat in 2005. At the time, the shelter was looking for someone to run its Adoption Program.

It turned out to be a win, win for everyone. Caymus found his incredible forever home and the shelter gained an amazing Adoption Coordinator. Caymus was a sweet and loving boy who brought years of joy to his family. He will be missed. Rest in Peace little man.

HOME TO HOME ADOPTION:

These piggies are not at the shelter.

Two female guinea pigs, Ruby and Luna, approximately 3 years old are looking for a new home. Ruby is friendly and will sit on your lap. Luna is a skittish at first but friendly once you catch her. The pen is 55”L x 28”W. Everything included with remaining hay & shavings 😊

There have been 4 to 5 white goats loose on Pembroke street near the high school as of 6:30 this morning. They have ear tags, one of which says “Puzzle”. If you are or know the owner of these goats, they are being contained at 245 Pembroke St. Thank you.
