🐾💔 231 DAYS. But the wait is finally over! 😭❤️

This is a very special adoption post we've been dreaming of writing for what feels like an eternity. Our handsome, brilliant boy Blaze walked out of the Ulster County SPCA doors and into his brand-new life.

Blaze came to us nearly eight months ago as a lost dog. Day after day, he sat by his kennel door, watching and waiting for the owners he loved so much to come take him home. But they never came. 💔

It breaks your heart to watch a dog realize they’ve been left behind. But Blaze didn't let that dim his incredible spirit. Instead, he channeled his energy into becoming an absolute . He proved himself to be highly intelligent, eagerly learning new things, wonderfully friendly, and so easily trained.

Because of his resilient heart and goofy charm, Blaze quickly became a fiercely loved staff and volunteer favorite. We walked him, we snuggled him, we gave him extra treats, and we whispered to him every single day that his was out there.

And yet, he waited. Through the winter, through the spring, and into the summer... 231 long days. He watched so many other dogs get chosen while he was passed by, just waiting for the person who would see him for the absolute treasure he is and give him that at forever. This week, that perfect match finally arrived. 🥹✨

To Blaze’s new family: thank you for looking past the number of days he’s been here and seeing the beautiful, loyal soul ready to complete your world.

Blaze, buddy, you don't have to wait by the door anymore. Tonight, you sleep in your own bed, in your own home, knowing you are exactly where you belong. Happy Tails, sweet boy! We are going to miss you so much, but we couldn't be happier. 🎉🐕❤️

🐾❤️ OUR HEARTS ARE FULL ❤️🐾

We are going to sleep tonight with the biggest, most grateful smiles on our faces. This week, the Ulster County SPCA saw a wave of adoptions—and to be completely honest, we really, truly needed it. 😭✨

To everyone who opened their hearts and homes over the last few days: thank you. Thank you for choosing rescue. Right now, so many of our beautiful, resilient animals are curled up, sleeping in their brand-new beds, completely safe and loved with their forever families tonight. That thought alone makes every single hard day in sheltering worth it.

But as we look around our quiet shelter this evening, the reality sets in. For every happy tail wagging in a new living room tonight, there is still a sweet soul waiting behind a kennel door here at the UCSPCA.

So many incredible dogs, cats, and small animals are still waiting for their moment. They are waiting for the person who will look into their eyes and say, "Come on, let’s go home."

We’ve had an extraordinary week of at the Ulster County SPCA, and our hearts are so full. Thanks to our incredible community, 15 animals have started their brand new chapters in loving !
