Meet Rio! 🐾

Rio is a young terrier mix—possibly part Schnauzer, although the rest of his family tree remains a mystery!

He is here for a one-week Board & Train to begin his behavior-modification journey. Rio struggles with significant fear, which can present as fear-based aggression in his home—particularly toward his dad when he moves suddenly or enters and exits a room.

Our goal this week is to give Rio a solid foundation through structure, clear communication, confidence-building, and obedience. This Board & Train is only the beginning. Once his foundational work is in place, we’ll continue working with both Mom and Dad in the home, where the behavior occurs.

Behavior modification isn’t a quick fix—it’s a process that requires training the dog, coaching the family, and creating new patterns together. We’re excited to help Rio and his family take that first step. 💙

Dog training isn’t just about teaching your dog to sit, stay, and come.

It’s about building a dog who knows how to live in your world.

A dog who can settle when nothing exciting is happening.
A dog who can make good choices without being micromanaged.
A dog who understands boundaries.
A dog who can go places with you and actually be enjoyable to have along.

Sometimes we get so caught up in teaching commands that we forget the bigger picture.

The goal isn’t a dog who performs perfectly during a 10-minute training session.

The goal is a dog who can take everything you’ve taught them and use it in real life.

So today, instead of adding another training session, look for opportunities to train within your normal day.

At the door. On your walk. While you’re making dinner. When someone comes over. When you sit down to relax.

Because ultimately, life is the training session. 🐾

🐾 Meet Raya! 🐾

Raya is a 9-week-old Mini Aussie who came to spend some time with us because her family wanted to make sure they were starting her off on the right foot from the very beginning.

At this age, training isn’t really about having a puppy who can perform perfect obedience. I’m much more interested in building the foundation that everything else will grow from.

For Raya, that means learning how to engage with people, experiencing new sights, sounds, surfaces, and environments, beginning to understand how training works, developing confidence, and learning that the world is a safe and fun place to explore.

We’ll introduce some obedience along the way, but there’s no rush for perfection. She’s only nine weeks old! ❤️

The goal right now is to give her the skills and experiences that will make future training easier—and help her grow into a confident, well-adjusted dog who can enjoy a happy little life with her family.

Starting early doesn’t mean expecting more from your puppy. It means giving them the foundation they’ll need for everything that comes next. 🐶

Good morning ☀️

This is how I started my day.

A workout, a set of dumbbells, a yoga mat—and choosing to do something for myself before the rest of the day gets going.

I’m on my own health and fitness journey, and one of the biggest things I’m working on has nothing to do with a number on a scale. It’s discipline.

Doing the thing even when I don’t really feel like doing it.
Showing up consistently.
Understanding that the little things I do every day matter more than the things I do once in a while.

And, unsurprisingly, that sounds a whole lot like dog training.

We talk all the time about wanting our dogs to be more consistent. We want them to listen when there are distractions. We want better habits. We want them to make better choices.

But training a dog requires us to be consistent first.

It means taking the extra few minutes to work with them. Following through when it would be easier not to. Being intentional about the little interactions throughout the day instead of only “training” when we have a problem.

And I think learning to keep promises to yourself carries over into that.

If I can practice discipline for me, I’m better prepared to practice it for my dogs, my business, and everything else that depends on me showing up.

So this morning, this was my version of showing up.

Nothing fancy. Just dumbbells on a yoga mat, a sweaty selfie, and another day of doing what I said I was going to do. 💪🐾

There are a whole lot of dogs on this page…but probably not enough of the person behind them. So I’m working on changing that. 👋

If you’re new here, I’m Kristine — owner and trainer behind Daley Obedience.

And this handsome, slightly soggy guy next to me is Tupper, one of my own dogs. 😂💦

This picture was taken at a dock diving event this weekend, which is a pretty accurate representation of my life outside of work.

I spend all week working with dogs…and then in my free time, I apparently choose to do more things with dogs. 😂

But there are a few other things I love.

🥾 Give me a good hiking trail and I’m happy.

🏊‍♀️ If there’s somewhere to swim, I’m probably getting in.

🎣 I love fishing — although I’m perfectly happy just being outside whether the fish cooperate or not.

📚 And when I actually slow down, you’ll probably find me with a book.

Of course, the dogs tend to find their way into most of those things too.

And that’s actually a big part of WHY training matters so much to me.

I don’t want dogs that simply know a list of commands.

I want dogs I can do life with.

Dogs that can hike with me, travel with me, try sports like dock diving, hang out by the water, explore new places and just be part of whatever we’re doing.

Training isn’t the end goal.

The life you get to live with your dog because of that training is.

That’s a huge part of what I believe as a trainer — and something you’ll hear me talk about a lot around here.

I’m also going to start sharing a little more of me along with all the dogs, training tips and business stuff.

And apparently incapable of choosing a hobby that involves staying clean and dry. 😂🐾
