All the board and train pups got some good reps in today. The weather was fine for walking so they all got to practice good manners on leash. The office was super busy so we used the constant flow of energy as distractions during the place and down commands. All four pups are doing so much better during their crate time.

It was such a nice day that we did most of our work outside today. Each dog comes with his or her own set of issues. We work on obedience in general so then we can focus on separate issues as we go. This group has personality to spare that’s for sure! ☀️

Chance is a dude who knows how to stress. What he has worked on over the last 3 weeks is how to come out of that stress. Everything we do is intentional. We do not rush through doors, we don’t bomb down the stairs, we don’t whine incessantly wondering what’s next and we don’t cling to our person because we can’t settle. Learning to regulate his own energy is so important for his overall well being. The first pic is my favorite of him so far. There is a level of calm on his face that has been missing. He goes home tomorrow and that’s when the big work starts!

Chance worked on his leash skills again today. He’s walking SO much better now. While we worked place today we knocked on the door and had people come in with lots of excitement. He had a hard time holding the command when this happened. So that’s what we focused on today. Life is full of distractions you have to deal with it buddy.

Lucky and Gwen went on a super fun adventure this weekend. We got to practice our training skills while we socialized with the awesome staff and clients. When your dogs know how to behave in different scenarios you can enjoy bringing them out in public. And the public can enjoy seeing such well behaved dogs out “in the wild”. Look at those happy faces! As a side benefit mom got to feed her flower addiction which she justifies as supporting local business.

Chance worked the come command out in the dog area. We used the come command to call him away from the fence. We had staff on the other side of the fence that he has not met. This scenario has caused issues for him. Not today! We slowed down at doorways, we did place in the office while strangers (to him) moved around him. We did commands at the T station and while out and about.

Chance worked it today. We put some steps on the Fitbit. He is getting much better at walking nicely on the leash. We came upon a tree company cutting down branches and running the wood chipper. It was LOUD. He wanted to panic so we worked commands until he was able to settle. He will sleep well tonight!
