Update: What a day! I woke up at 4 am, left the house at 5:15, and we were loading dogs into the transport van at 8:15 am. We rescued from 2 locations today. The first location, which we were told were ShihTzus, we rescued 8 dogs. A special thanks to Southeast Shih-Tzu Rescue and Hospice for partnering with us to remove 16 dogs, each of us took 8. These babies aren’t ShihTzu, maybe there’s some Tzu in there somewhere, but they’re the cutest, scruffiest things ever. I will post pictures tomorrow. They were infested with fleas, 2 have corneal ulcers and one has hair loss from the flea infestation. These will have medical expenses beyond normal. We left that location and went to the second location where we rescued 9 chihuahuas for Tri-County Animal Rescue, Inc. Alexis, North Carolina. Once we got home after lunch we had our amazing team waiting to weigh, deworm, treat flea infestation, vaccinate, bathe several times, and pick fleas off for hours. We finished at 6 pm. I can’t thank our village enough from the ones that went to the location to record all the dogs and load, to the ones that came to do intake here at home. I can’t name all the people who helped because I will miss someone! It was an amazing day for these pups. Their new lives began today. Four females went to foster tonight, one we are 99% sure is pregnant. We still have 4 males to send to fosters. Two males are skittish and just need someone to give their undivided attention to. For now I am beyond exhausted mentally and physically.
Today is the day! Let’s go rescue some ShihTzus!
