Ok my reptile friends. You may already know of Texas H.E.R.P.S. (Herpetological Education, Rescue and Prevention Society). We started as a small group here around Fort Hood but eventually became a database for people in various counties that did education and relocation. I we have been talking more with Keith Northrop and Bonnie Riesman Berry about turning it back into a local Society. I have filed tax paperwork for Texas HERPS, Texas H.E.R.P.S., TX HERPS, TX H.E.R.P.S. AND HERPS so we own all of those names. We currently own www.Texasherps.com and www.txherps.com. Keith is currently working on redoing a room in Chameleon Encounters for us to host meetings. Brittany Berg Weimert and I also open our house for events. Keith is working on some other perks to being in this Society such as selling your animals from his store front as well as other ideas.
What is the purpose/mission of Texas H.E.R.P.S.?
To come together ad a community to educate each other and the public. We would like to make sure that ad a Society we understand and follow laws as well as legally filing paperwork for any future endeavors in the reptile community. We want to do events and/or displays for the public to attend as well as visiting local schools. We will plan local and distant field herping exercises. We will do fund raisers and events to raise money for our Society as well as other groups that may be in need.
Right now we are in the organizing stage so we will have roles to fill such as Secretary, Notes Keeper and Council Members as well as Members. We will be working on a new website template as well so if you have any experience with any of the above please let us know and we will discuss it. We truly look forward to hearing from you and getting this ball rolling in the right direction.
We also will be looking to doing affiliation with other local Herpetological Societies so please pass this on.
Thank you.
