After a long dry spell, we have DOGS! 🐶❤️

Meet Morgan, this week’s featured animal at the Ketchikan Gateway Borough Animal Protection – Pat Wise Animal Shelter!

Morgan is a wonderful girl who is ready to find a home of her own. She would thrive best in a home without small children or other pets, where she can soak up all the love and attention for herself.

If Morgan looks like she might be the perfect addition to your family, stop by and meet her!

ALL ANIMALS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION!

It’s a quiet week at the Pat Wise Animal Shelter - all of our dogs have found homes! But we still have some wonderful cats waiting for their turn.

🐱 Bola — DLH brown tabby adult female
🐱 Boo — DSH adult black female
🐱 Spruce — DLH adult black male
🐱 Willow — DSH Siamese adult female

This week’s photo stars are Bola and Spruce, two beautiful long-haired cats with very different personalities and the same wish - a home to call their own.

Even though Bola and Spruce are the faces of this week’s post, don’t forget that Boo and Willow are waiting too! Stop by and meet the cats - your new best friend might just be waiting behind one of those doors.

Meet Spruce, a handsome, fluffy adult male Domestic Longhair with a personality all his own!

Spruce enjoys attention and affection - but on his terms! He knows what he likes and isn’t afraid to let you know when he’s had enough. Because Spruce prefers to be the center of attention, he would do best in a home without young children or other animals, where he can settle in, relax, and enjoy being the one and only.

If you’re looking for an independent companion with plenty of personality (and one seriously magnificent coat!), Spruce may be your guy. Come meet him and see if he chooses you! 🐾❤️

October is Animal Safety Month!

As the Ketchikan days get shorter and darkness comes earlier, take a few simple steps to keep our pets safe - at home, on the road, and while enjoying the outdoors.

For evening walks, make sure both you and your pet can be seen. Reflective vests, leashes, harnesses, and light-up collars can make a big difference, especially along dark or poorly lit roads.

Animal Safety Month is also a great time to check a few other basics: make sure ID tags have current contact information, consider microchipping your pet, keep vaccinations and medications up to date, and have a plan for your pets in case of an emergency or evacuation.

A little preparation goes a long way toward keeping the animals we love safe. 💙

Be visible. Be prepared. Keep them safe.

Featured Animal of the Week - Boo!

Sweet Boo is an adult, black Domestic Shorthair who is looking for a very special person to call her own. 🖤

Boo has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and currently receives daily medication to manage her condition. Because of this, she needs an adopter who is comfortable providing her medication each day and making sure she continues to receive the care she needs.

In return, you’ll get a wonderful companion! Boo is a friendly, loving cat who deserves a home where she can be cared for, spoiled, and loved. She may need a little extra attention, but we think the right person will agree that Boo is absolutely worth it.

Could you be Boo’s special adopter? Come meet her at the shelter!
