KVC would like to thank everyone for the incredible outpouring of support, patience, and understanding during this challenging time.

Our team is working diligently to clean and restore the reception area, and we are coordinating all necessary efforts to reopen as quickly and safely as possible.
At this time, our Kennel and Grooming services will remain unaffected and will continue operating as scheduled throughout the week.

We will remain closed in the clinic for regular appointments all day tomorrow (Tuesday 6/23) as we continue cleanup efforts, assess the front area, and ensure it is safe for both our clients, patients and staff. If you need to pick up medication or have medical emergencies please reach out and we will accommodate as best as possible.

Our current plan is to reopen on Wednesday (6/24/26) at 8:00 AM using curbside service, as the lobby will likely still be unavailable for use. We will continue to provide updates as progress is made.

We sincerely appreciate your support, patience, and encouragement. Please know that our team is working hard to restore our beautiful clinic and return to full operations as soon as possible.

Screwworm update:
As many of you have heard, screwworm is now in Texas and a case has been found as near to us as Gillespie County.
This is not a cause for panic, however is a cause for diligence. Please be sure to check your livestock and your pets (yes even dogs and cats could be affected) daily for wounds.
The screwworms like to enter wounds and feed on healthy tissue so any non healing or worsening wounds should be checked out. If you are able to, any wounds should be cleaned and covered.
Be sure to keep cats and dogs on their preventatives. (Credelio Quattro, Credelio, Credelio cat, Nexgard plus, Nexgard, and Nexgard combo are approved for emergency use for this).

🚨 With the recent detection of New World screwworm in a 3-week-old bovine in Zavala County, TX, USDA urges residents to contact your veterinarian right away if you see any suspicious wounds, maggots, or infestations in your animals or herd.

If you see signs of maggot infestations in live or very recently dead wild animals, especially in areas near the U.S./Mexico border, please call 866-4USDA-WS (866-487-3297) to report it to your local USDA Wildlife Services office.

On June 3, 2026, the Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC) received confirmation of a detection of New World screwworm (NWS) in Zavala County, Texas. The best thing that livestock producers and animal owners can do to prevent infestation is to put eyes on their animals as often as possible, remain vigilant by implementing enhanced management practices to avoid creating wounds, and promptly report suspicious wounds.
