We are more than happy to direct you to great trainers! I highly recommend Mission Impossible K9 for behavior mod/aggression issues.

For great obedience training, TrTri City Canines a bit more local, and also excellent.

Please understand you aren’t going to get a perfect haircut on an agitated, anxious, or aggressive dog. I do a lot in terms of comfort and training for the grooming table, but my hands are my livelihood, and I’m not willing to be out of work temporarily or permanently from a dog bite. If it’s bad, I’ll refer you out to one of these two trainers and once you’ve gone through training, I’ll be thrilled to have you back and work with your pup!

I think sometimes we need to remember where a groomer’s responsibility ends and an owner’s begins. Groomers seem to be one of the only pet professionals who are routinely expected to train an animal to tolerate the service while simultaneously providing the service.

If your dog is terrified of the vet, we don’t expect the Veterinarian to spend every appointment training your dog to accept being examined. We work with a trainer, learn the appropriate techniques, and then we, as owners, put in the work between appointments. My own German Shepherd doesn’t like being handled by strangers at the Vet. So I’m taking her to training. The trainer is giving me the tools to help her become comfortable with handling, but ultimately it’s my responsibility to practice those skills with her. It is not my Veterinarian’s responsibility to train my dog during her appointment.

Grooming should be treated the same way. A good groomer can absolutely work patiently, use appropriate handling techniques, recognize stress signals, make accommodations, and help create positive experiences, but we cannot undo months or years of fear, lack of exposure, or behavioural issues during a grooming appointment while also trying to safely complete the groom.

Desensitization happens through consistent, repeated work, not once every 6-8 weeks on the grooming table. Your groomer can be part of the team, and your trainer can give you the tools, but at the end of the day training and preparing your pet for the world is the owner’s responsibility.

Keep those vaccines up to date for the wellbeing of your pups, and remember, we are not able to serve unvaccinated dogs unless vet provided titers are supplied! We require rabies, distemper, parvo, and highly recommend Bordetella vaccination due to the volume of pups in and out of doors. We understand not all groomers require this, but in the interest of protecting our own dogs and our clients, it’s a non negotiable! ❤️

Arthur is a special boy. Not only does he have the most epic beard, but he was a model citizen today for his groom.

When Arthur started with me as a fairly young dog, he made bath time an absolute nightmare with his frantic flopping, shaking, and fighting.

This is where having someone with dog training experience comes in handy. Rather than just holding Arthur down and forcing him through the groom, I utilize different training methods to teach him that bath time doesn’t have to be a struggle, and that yes, he must behave. He knows he’ll be heavily rewarded for doing the right thing, and he’s no longer that dog I see on the schedule and cry a little inside 😝

Sweet Tessa looks like a cuddly teddy bear with her new haircut! We do lots of Goldens, some shorter like this girl, and some flowing and natural- haircuts are custom to each owner and dog’s needs. No cookie cutter doggos here!

Sooo many people have asked me the question “how many dogs do you actually own?!”

Usually I just respond with “a few”

But yall, it’s time to come clean- there’s four of these spoiled beasts! And a cat, four ferrets, a bearded dragon, and a tarantula named Fluffy.

There ya have it. Sometimes they sound like twelve dogs, but only have four 😆
