Spring / heat is here and rattle snakes are out in central and eastern Washington. Is the vaccine effective to lower the symptoms for a dog bitten by a rattle snake?

Unfortunately, some vets will recommend the rattlesnake vaccine. Touted to “buy time” getting to an emergency clinic or even to ward off the envenomation, the rattlesnake vaccine is an often used but poorly supported treatment for dogs. Dog language lesson: this is not aggression. And it’s not dominance. This is a correction. Leo (the brown lapponian herder is telling Ganan (the brown / white husky) to back off as he needs space when he is about to do his business. The huskies are younger and very enthusiastic about his older brother and sometimes Leo gently tells them to give him space, but sometimes, he is a bit more dramatic. Ganan is very good at listening after this correction and immediately backs off.
