Dental health is important!

Creating a daily habit of brushing our dog's teeth, reduces the chances of periodontal disease or other health concerns caused by poor dental hygiene.

How to introduce the toothbrush is something we review in our Puppy Manners and Beginning Home Obedience classes. If you haven't yet, create good habits now! It's never too late to start brushing their teeth.

Congrats to the Monday Trick Dog class!!

Everyone earned a new title.

Well done to Holly, Minka, Joy, Izzy, and Ford (not pictured, but he got it too).

Trick Dog is one of my favorite classes to teach and was a lot of fun to work with everyone.

Dogs’ tails are interesting and can serve a multitude of purposes.

Dogs use their tails to communicate with both humans and dogs. We always notice the wags! But they also communicate in how they carry their tail and how it’s moving. Not all wagging tails are happy tails. Dominant dogs may carry their tails higher because it allows the scent from their a**l glands to spread, while more submissive dogs may hold their tail lower.

A dog’s breed and structure may also impact their tail carriage and usage. For example, a pug will almost always hold their tail upright and their communication via tail may be far more subtle. Water breeds have thick tails that they use as rudders while swimming while sighthounds have whip-like tails that allow them to change direction faster when moving.

The spine connects to the tail which is why tail injuries can have such an impact on a dog. Learn more about your dog by watching their tail!
