Update!
Sawyer Lake Veterinary Hospital has been rebranded, and is now Sawyer Lake Veterinary Community Care Clinic, a subsidiary of South Sound Critter Care! As a non-profit, the Board of Directors of SSCC now owns Sawyer Lake Vet Community Care Clinic (SLVCCC), and we are joined with Kitten Tamers as well as Puget Sound Wildcare all as one. Its so exciting!

We opened under our new name on April 6th.

Thank you so much to all of our loyal clientele and Sawyer Lake family! Your vet team hasn't changed, so dont worry!
We are fully committed to providing our clients with the same care and attention we always have. Except now, we have the security of never going corporate AND we wont have to continue raising costs. The community means everything to us and we aim to be your neighborhood family vet. You matter ❤️
Keep an eye out for our new page coming soon!

***Graphic Images for sensitive viewers!***

Our panleukopenia kittens are thriving except Marigold and Chloe's eyes. Sadly the infection cost Marigold her right eye, which was successfully removed today and shes recovering from surgery well.
It is still uncertain, but likely, that Chloe may also need enucliation surgery as well.

If anyone would like to donate for these babies extensive medical care, please call us at 360-886-8000

Remember our sick panleukopenia kittens?
Their PCR test result came back and they also have feline herpesvirus, calicivirus, mycoplasma, and suspected chlamydia.
Despite it all, and the fact eye loss is a high likelihood, they are thriving.
Constant nursing care, but, Chloe, Marigold, and Tigger - you are some strong musketeers!

Another amazing good samaritan highlight!
A young man found this lost boy last night and brought him in to us this morning for identification in hopes of finding the owner. Sadly, there were no tags or microchip to help us find his family.

We do NOT take in strays, but we were able to call RASK and a wonderful officer picked this good boy up. Stars aligned and before he made it to RASK, they recieved a call from the family! He is now happy and reunited with his family.

A great way to ensure your fur babies always find their way back to you is to make sure their collars have identification tags with your information; microchip them with updated contact info with the microchip company; and/or if you reside within King County, get them licensed!

Happy paws today!

Working in vet med isn't about kisses and cuddles every day (although we sure love it for our new puppy and kitten exams!!)
Sometimes it's heartbreaking. Not all people make good heart felt choices. But sometimes, good people do everything they can to find help for our critters in need.

Recently, a samaritan brought in 4 little kittens approximately 4 weeks old, unclear exactly the story, but they may have been found on the sode of the road.
One out of the four was in severe distress and was intensely cared for all night with a DVM. Sadly, he passed away that night.
The other 3 were alert, but very ill. Our team did intake evaluations and administered fluids, gave flea treatment, amongst other nursing care. They were refusing food via syringe, bottle, or free feeding even with kitten milk. This went on for two days.
They are receiving antibiotics, eye medications, fluids, and are under close monitoring. They tested positive for panleukopenia - which can be fatal if the kitten isnt strong enough and often requires plasma transfusions and intensive care to give them the best shot at survival.
Today, these babies are bright and alert, playing ajd climbing, eating a lot on their own and doing very well!!!! This is so exciting! We hope to get them to their best in time and when they are ready, they may go up for adoption with the Kitten Tamers program.

Send good vibes for speedy recovery for them, they have a long road! We are always in need of KMR kitten milk, puppy pads, kitten food, etc if anyone wants to donate supplies reach out to our clinic! ❤️❤️
