UPDATE: Unfortunately Little Bobbles made his way to the big farm in the sky last night while he was sleeping. He put up a he fight snd was steadily improving.
Thank you for loving Bobbles for the short time he was here.
Life never quite stops lifing here.. thanks Hennifer 😩
Everybody, meet Bobbles. He has a condition called “Wry Neck” that can be treated with proper nutrition. Early intervention is key and we caught it immediately. Bobbles has had steady improvement over the last 12 hours so we are hopeful.
Thank you angels for your support. Because of you we were well prepared with all of the supplies we needed ON HAND to immediately start helping this little one.
Thank you ❤️‍🩹

It’s with the heaviest hearts that we write this tonight.

Our beloved miniature donkey, Buckwheat, passed away today.

Buckwheat was only here at Briscot Farm and Sanctuary for a short time, arriving last August, but in that time he became a favorite to so many children and families in our community. Long before coming to us, Buckwheat already had a special place in the hearts of many. Born at Remlinger Farms nearly 30 years ago, he spent his life teaching children how to ride and drive, bringing smiles and comfort everywhere he went.

He was a friend to everyone who met him.

Our hearts are broken over this loss. We have been through so much these past months, and this came as such a shock. We take in the old ones so they can have love, safety, and peace in their final years, but we never expected it to end so suddenly.
Ae than the emergency vets at Northwest Equine for doing all they could and ultimately helping him leave this world peacefully and with dignity.

Mr. Buckwheat showed almost no signs of illness until the moment we realized something was wrong. Donkeys are incredibly stoic animals and often hide illness very well.

We are so sorry to all those who knew and loved him.

Please keep Buckwheat in your hearts and prayers tonight as he finds his way to the big farm in the sky.

“The Big Farm in the Sky”

Tonight the trails are quiet,
The barn feels strange and still,
No little hooves beside us,
No gentle eyes to fill.

But somewhere past the sunset,
Where golden meadows lie,
Buckwheat’s running free again
At the big farm in the sky.

With children there to greet him,
And endless grass to roam,
We pray he knows how loved he was,
And that he’s finally home.

Randy got a little too excited to be turned out in a pen next to Petunia and bumped his tusk on his lip 😞
Randy was a solo pig his whole life and is excited to meet other pigs. We are acclimating him slowly.
He cannot just be turned in with other pigs until he learns piggy manners. We are working on it. 💜

Joan Johnson here is your update on Petunia and Randy! 💕
They were contracted to help graze the field and Randy spent the entire time flirting while Petunia earned her keep mowing… typical dynamic there 🤣
Petunia says Hello Joan! Thank you for checking in!
