Eventing Camp was a blast!

From learning about the sport to actually practicing dressage tests, memorizing stadium jump courses, and getting out on the crosscountry field, we packed a LOT into three days!

The kids learned about horsemanship through feeding, cleaning stalls, and taking care of the horses. They got creative with some arts and crafts and even tried their hand at painting the horse skeletons onto the horses!

We learned about the proper way to build a jump, the different types of jumps, and how to walk strides and of course, we got plenty of time in the saddle practicing all of it!

Some riders were brand new, while others were more seasoned, but everyone learned something, challenged themselves, and had a whole lot of fun.

Thank you to our extra helpers throughout the week! We couldn't have done it without you!

All in all, it was a pretty awesome few days! ❤️

It was a great weekend in the Valley at GVRDC horse trial!

Haleigh kicked off the weekend with a lovely dressage test and only 1 rail in stadium to finish 5th on her boy Swayze in the beginner novice rider division on a really tough beginner novice track!

Aerilyn and Rainer were up next in the starter division. With one of their best tests yet they ended up finishing on their dressage score and holding 1st place!

Keira and Mya wrapped up the weekend with Cliff and Finn!

This was Keiras first outting at a horse trial and finished 3rd in the tadpole combined test and went clear in the extra cross country round! Keira piloted Cliff confidently in all phases!

Mya and Finn really found their groove and laid out an awesome dressage test. They took it slow and steady out on xc which resulted in some time penalties but we would rather be "lazy than crazy"! They finished 5th in the tadpole horse trial.

Some really great moments happened this weekend with teamwork, camaraderie, bravery, maturity and horsemanship. I love the atmosphere in the valley and watching my students accomplish things they may have their doubts about.

❤️

Behind the Stall Walls... The Remains

The other day I left the farm as a storm was clearly beginning to build in the sky. I looked across the road and my breath was taken by this view. This old silo standing quietly where it has stood for who knows how many years. The owners of that farm have changed many times. For a good chunk of time, the property sat untouched, owned by a bank. Recently, new owners have come in and things are changing again... Yet, that old silo still stands.

Its purpose may have changed and its surroundings certainly have. The hands that have cared for the land it stands on have come and gone... But it is still what it is.

I think there is something really beautiful in that.

Life takes us through so many seasons. We become different versions of ourselves, people influence us, and circumstances change us. Sometimes we have to let go of things we thought would be permanent and step into something completely new.

Sometimes somewhere along the way it can be easy to lose sight of who we are amidst all of those changes and I've been reminded of that lately.

During a season of a lot of change in my own life, that old silo felt like a quiet reminder:

You can change without losing yourself...
Your circumstances can change...
Your purpose can evolve...
Your surroundings can look completely different...
But the things that make you you don't have to disappear.

So, as the storms come and things change, I'm trying to remember to stay true to myself.

Be kind, keep showing up, keep fighting the good fight.

Because is the goal really to remain unchanged?
Or is the goal is to change, grow, and weather every season without losing the parts of ourselves that matter most.
