What a rescue this turned into! 🐾❤️

Lola was located with the thermal drone in just about 3½ minutes, but getting to her through that thick, waist-deep marsh was a whole different challenge. Megan was an absolute rockstar out there and wasn’t letting anything stop her from reaching that Beagle.

It was great working together with Second Chance Animals of Greater Milwaukee, Katie, Megan, Lola’s family, and everyone else who helped bring this little girl safely home.

🐾 BEAGLE RESCUE — WATERTOWN, WI 🐾

Last night, September 4th, I was called out to Watertown to help locate a missing Beagle.

We had a general idea of the area he was in, but what we didn’t know was that he had ended up in a dark, wet marsh surrounded by woods.

I launched the thermal drone and began searching the area. Within about five minutes, I was able to locate the Beagle in a marsh.

From there, I used the drone to help guide the pet owner, her magnet dog, and another rescuer through the dark wooded area toward the Beagle’s location.
Once they reached the marsh, the terrain became much more difficult. Because the pet owner was elderly and also had her magnet dog with her, only the other rescuer was able to continue through the waist-deep wet marsh while I helped guide her toward the Beagle with the drone.

I recorded a lot of the search, but when the drone went back up the second time, I was so focused on the recovery that I completely forgot to hit record. 🤦‍♂️😂

Of course, that ended up being the part I really wish I had recorded!

But video or no video, the important part is that the Beagle was found, everyone made it safely out of the marsh, and this little guy is back home where he belongs. ❤️🐶

Another successful rescue and another happy ending.

Just a reminder that Backwoods Drone Search & Rescue also provides thermal drone deer recovery during the upcoming deer season.

I’ve located many deer over the years using thermal drones, including deer buried deep in woods, fields and heavy cover.

Can you find the 2 people wearing brite yellow suits? 👀

They’re down there in all that thick vegetation, but they’re extremely hard to spot with the regular camera and almost impossible by foot

Switch over to thermal… and there they are. 🔥🚁

Backwoods Drone Search & Rescue just added ANOTHER 5-FOOT TOMahawk Professional Live Trap to our recovery equipment! 🐾

That means we now have TWO full-size 5-foot Tomahawk live traps available when a lost dog goes into survival mode and simply will not approach its owner, and One 12"x12"x36" TOMahawk live trap

Finding a lost dog with a thermal drone is only part of the job. Sometimes the real challenge begins after the dog is located. Having the proper professional trapping equipment gives us another option to safely bring those difficult cases home.

We continue investing in professional equipment because every lost pet and every situation is different — and I want to be prepared for whatever the recovery requires.

Apparently Backwoods Bella had to perform the final inspection before this one could officially enter service. 😂🐱

Well… tonight’s search & rescue client has wings. 🦇😂

Got a call for a bat loose inside a house, so apparently Backwoods Drone Search & Rescue is expanding into air-to-air operations. 🤣

No thermal drone needed for this one — just a net, some gloves, and hopefully quicker reflexes than the bat.

When they roam, we bring them home… even when they’re flying around the living room. 😂🦇
