Sad update on the black mink i rescued,

I finally received an update from the wildlife rehabilitation team.
When I found this little guy, he was dragging his back legs near the walking area by Lake Michigan. I picked him up, got him somewhere safe, gave him food and water, and he ate and drank really well. He even showed a little strength in his back legs when I supported him with my hand, so I had a lot of hope for him.
The veterinary team found soft-tissue damage around his pelvis and two small puncture wounds near his hips. Thankfully, he had no broken bones, but he was also underweight and had apparently been injured for some time.
Unfortunately, despite everyone’s efforts, he passed away while in rehabilitation. They believe the trauma may have caused internal injuries that simply could not be repaired.
I really hoped this little guy was going to pull through. At least he wasn’t left outside suffering alone. He got food, water, warmth, medical care, and a safe place to rest during his final days.
Sometimes rescue doesn’t have the ending we hope for, but every animal deserves a chance. Rest easy, little buddy. 🖤 🐾 😪

🚨🐾 MISSING DOG? WE'RE AVAILABLE FOR THERMAL DRONE SEARCHES TODAY! 🚁🐾

☁️ Cloudy skies don't necessarily mean we can't fly!

There's quite a bit of cloud cover across southeastern Wisconsin today, but here's something many people don't realize...

🌡️ Overcast skies can actually HELP thermal drone searches!

With less direct sunlight heating up the ground, rooftops, pavement, and other surfaces, thermal cameras can sometimes detect animals more effectively because of improved temperature contrast.

🚁 Backwoods Drone Search & Rescue is AVAILABLE and ready to respond!

Today's aviation weather reports are showing promising flying conditions in parts of Kenosha, Racine, Burlington, and surrounding areas.

Every search location is evaluated individually for safe flying conditions, cloud clearance, visibility, and airspace restrictions.

🐕 If your dog is missing, don't give up hope!

We use advanced thermal drone technology to help locate missing pets in fields, wooded areas, marshes, and other difficult terrain.

🚁🐾 DO I HAVE ONE OF THE COOLEST JOBS IN THE WORLD? I SURE THINK SO! 🦉🌲

Some people go to work every day counting down the hours until they can go home.
Me? I'm the guy who loves when the phone rings at 2 AM because another rescue might be waiting!
One night I'm flying a thermal drone over hundreds of acres of woods searching for a missing dog. The next night I'm searching marshes, fields, and neighborhoods, trying to reunite a lost animal with its family.

I've located dogs in places you wouldn't believe, helped save animals from dangerous situations, and even helped recover a rocket stuck 90 feet up in a tree! 🚀😂

I've been asked what job could possibly be more fun than mine.

Helicopter pilot? Race car driver? Wildlife explorer?

Those would all be pretty awesome!
But here's the thing...
I get to combine technology, adventure, problem-solving, wildlife, and search and rescue into ONE job!

And the best part?
Sometimes I get to help save a life and bring a family member home. ❤️🐾
Is Every mission successful? Unfortunately, no.
Are there long nights, sleepless hours, expensive equipment, and heartbreaking moments? Absolutely.
But somebody asked me:
"If you had all the money you needed and never had to work another day in your life, would you still go out at 2 AM searching for missing animals?"

My answer?
HECK YEAH, BROTHER!! 😂🚁🐾

Because when you truly love what you do, it's more than just a job.
It's a passion. It's an adventure. And it's a purpose.

I'm not saying I have the best job in the world...
But I sure wouldn't trade it for sitting behind a desk!

New Update:❤️🐾 ARCHIE IS HOME!!! 🐾❤️

After being missing for over a week, Archie is finally safe and back with his family!
We searched for Archie by thermal drone, followed up on sightings, put out flyers and signs, and kept narrowing down the areas he may have traveled. In the end, Archie was found on the other side of the same graveyard area we had searched, near Route 59.

Somehow this little guy managed to get himself inside a fenced yard and onto a fenced-in deck. The homeowner had no idea how he even got in there — but thank God he did. ❤️

Archie had a rough time out there. He lost about 7 pounds, had some scratches on his ears and legs, and his muzzle was red and raw. He has already been bathed, dewormed, and is being fed small amounts while he gets his strength back.

This is another reminder to never give up on a lost dog. They can travel, hide, double back, and survive much longer than people sometimes think.

A huge thank-you to everyone in the Antioch community who shared posts, watched for Archie, reported sightings, put up flyers, and helped keep hope alive. It truly takes a community.
And to Archie’s family — I’m so damn happy you finally have your boy back. ❤️

Trust the process. Trust the system, Never give up.

A lost dog can cover a lot of ground quickly. The sooner we can establish the last confirmed location, sightings, direction of travel and surrounding terrain, the better information we have to work with.

I’ve searched woods, farm fields, marshes, neighborhoods and rural areas and have successfully located dogs with thermal—including dogs that were extremely difficult to see from the ground.

If your dog is missing, message or call me. Even if you’re unsure whether a drone search is the right option, I can talk with you about the situation.
