UPDATE: The kitten pictured here was adopted ❤️
Happy Sunday! 🏈

Here at BFHS we love the 3-3-3 rule.
What is that? It's a general timeline for how an adopted animal may settle into a new home or environment.
So how does that look?
For the first 3 days an animal is doing all the hard work of decompressing. It's important to give them quiet and safe places to do so and to not overwhelm them with guests or other animals.
During the first 3 weeks you may seem them start to settle. It is key to be consistent and keep them on a schedule. This is building routines and forming bonds based on trust time.
After approximately 3 months? Animals will likely start feeling settled and at home. They may realize they are there to stay and that they have a new family that loves them! For especially timid or undersocial animals this may take longer. Please be patient with them.

A little kitty told us that Superbowl season kicks off February 14, 2027. Which is kind of awesome because there is just over 3 months until Superbowl AND Valentines day.
Kind of sounds meant to be to us!

Ready to add a buddy to your life? Visit us at Benton-Franklin Humane Society Tuesday-Sunday from 11am-4pm!
You can also email our staff at [email protected] to learn more about any of our adoptable animals.

The cutie pictured here is up for adoption and can go home today! ❤️
