Join us for hosting CA Performance Horses Dry Work & Mechanics Clinic!

This clinic is designed to break down the exact body control, footwork, and mental preparation your horse needs to excel—completely cattle-free.

What We’ll Cover:

• Perfecting the Stop: Getting your horse deep in the ground off your seat.
• The Turnaround: Building a correct, snappy spin and turn on the haunches.
• Tracking & Boxing Mechanics: Teaching your horse how to mirror a cow using arena markers.
• Rider Position: How your hands, legs, and weight cue the perfect maneuver.

Who it’s for:

From green horses and beginner riders looking for a safe place to start, to advanced competitors wanting to clean up their horse's footwork.

All disciplines welcome!

Sometimes we brag about how awesome. Smart and wonderful our horses are, but here is a real life 💩 story 🤣

Hours away from home 8.5 for the day

1st run of the day draw #158
Not a bad spot. Not our best time but this is his 18th run and our last run was 7/30.
Soooo

We rested, he ate, he drank. All is hunky dory.

We entered race #2

I am thinking, we definitely will be quicker this run, and then realistically it's very apparent he has to p*e but won't by the time its my turn and we will indeed not be faster.

We muscle through... it was a hard hopping 19.0, I am not pleased with his wooden headed approach to holding his p*e. Almost stops at the 2nd barrel

He has refused to p*e in the trailer in the shavings. Has refused to p*e tied up, until yesterday after my 2nd run, I stepped off and hung my bridle and the p*e was pouring 🙄

So we will chalk this up to a learning experience for him ( you will have to work no matter what and you don't know how long you will be away from home. P*E WHEN YOU NEED TO P*E )

And for me, well I won't take it personally. Its part of his process and I can't hold his hand through that

Im a huge advocate for not over working a young one. But a 6 yrs old with 90 days as a 3 yr old, this big watchy bo**er needed to sweat from every pore to make sure I had an advantage our 1st ride back. Hopefully he slows down the reactions and makes his own life easier
