Penn Vet’s new academic year is right around the corner. With it, we are excited to welcome two new faculty veterinarians to our Reproduction Service. 👋

✨ Dr. Soledad Martín-Peláez will be joining us as an assistant professor of Large Animal Reproduction after finishing her Theriogenology residency and PhD at UC Davis this September.

✨ Dr. Mariah Pearson, who will also be an assistant professor of Large Animal Reproduction, joins us from Texas A&M University where she was a clinical assistant professor in Theriogenology and a large animal educator.

We are so delighted to have them join the team, helping us advance animal health through exceptional clinical care, innovative research, and outstanding education.

💧🐴 : Did you know that cooling a horse's lower limbs at the first signs of laminitis can make a life-saving difference?

Research funded by the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation has helped establish cryotherapy (continuous foot cooling) as one of the most effective first-aid treatments for horses at risk of laminitis. Studies led by Dr. Andrew van Eps of Penn Vet New Bolton Center have shown that early, consistent cooling can reduce inflammation, protect the sensitive tissues inside the hoof, and improve outcomes in horses facing this devastating disease.

From racehorses and sport horses to pleasure horses and beloved companions, laminitis doesn't discriminate—and neither does the research that helps prevent it.
