New Hope Cat Rescue and Sanctuary recognizes as its core policy that it shall be a no-kill organization, meaning that no cat in its care, either within the shelter premises or the foster system, shall be destroyed except when it has been determined, in accordance with guidelines established from time to time by the Animal Care Team (or any successor group within the corporation), that such cat is severely suffering, hopelessly ill or injured, or beyond medical treatment. The determination of whether any cat is “beyond medical treatment” shall never be based solely on the cost of such medical treatment.

We rescued Heath 15 years ago when we found him lying on the shoulder of Hwy. 287 in Arlington. He had a broken rear leg that had to be amputated. He has lived an uneventful life health wise up until now. Sadly, Heath has developed a tumor on his lower abdomen and it drags on the carpet when he walks. This causes the tumor to be raw and develop blisters. Despite the pain he must surely be enduring, he remains the sweetest boy ever. Dr. Burch has examined Heath and determined that the tumor needs to be surgically removed. We have scheduled the surgery for May 29th. We need help paying for Heath’s surgery and the estimate is $1,206.78. If you would like to make a donation to help Heath, below is a list of ways that you can donate. If you are unable to donate, please share our post and above all say a prayer for our sweet boy.

North Texas Gives to Animals returns May 14–31, 2026, in celebration of National Pet Month.

The first $100,000 in online donations will be matched dollar‑for‑dollar by our presenting partner The Gigi Gartner Charitable Foundation Fund and Communities Foundation of Texas (up to $100 per donor, per organization).

Our main focus is to provide loving care for the cats in our rescue that were not fortunate enough to find their forever homes. Most of the cats in our care are older cats and some have medical conditions that require daily medication. We still rescue kittens and cats...
