🚗☀️ How Hot Is Your Car? Hotter Than You Think.

It only takes minutes for the inside of a vehicle to become dangerously hot - even if the windows are cracked.

🌡️ At just 70°F outside, your car can reach 104°F in only 30 minutes.
🌡️ At 90°F outside, the inside can soar to 124°F.

Dogs and cats can’t cool themselves as efficiently as we can, making them extremely vulnerable to heatstroke, which can become life-threatening very quickly.

🐾 If you see a pet left in a hot vehicle:
• Alert the business or store management.
• Contact local law enforcement or animal control.
• Note the vehicle’s make, model, color and license plate.
• Stay nearby until help arrives if it’s safe to do so.

The safest place for your pet during errands is at home in a cool, comfortable environment.

❤️ A quick shopping trip isn’t worth risking a life.

Please help us to spread the word by sharing this post. Together, we can help keep pets safe this summer.

🇺🇸 Fourth of July in Maine Starter Pack:

🌭 One dog who ate way too much picnic food (or found a questionable snack under the picnic table)
🐝 One spicy encounter with a bee or wasp
🎾 One overenthusiastic game of fetch that ends with a limp
🦔 One unexpected porcupine encounter
🌊 One dog who’s been beating the heat with daily swims… but their ears didn’t get the memo.

We would like to sincerely apologize to everyone who was expecting Lil Wayne at his concert in Bangor.

It turns out that he picked up a shift at Angelus Urgent Veterinary Care instead. 🩺🐶🐱

We can’t blame him - all the cute animals and a rainbow? That’s a hard shift to pass up.

Thanks for covering, Lil Wayne. We’ll make sure you’re clocked out before the next tour. 😉

🌡️ A heat wave is on the way! 🐾

High temperatures aren’t just uncomfortable .. they can quickly become life-threatening for our furry family members.

🐶🐱 Help keep your pets safe by:

💧 Providing plenty of fresh, cool water.
🏡 Keeping them indoors or in the shade during the hottest part of the day.
🚶 Walking your pets early in the morning or later in the evening.
🐾 Checking pavement with the back of your hand for 7 seconds .. if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for their paws.
🚗 Never leaving pets in a parked vehicle, even for a minute.

⚠️ Know the signs of heatstroke:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Bright red or pale gums
• Weakness or stumbling
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Collapse

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heatstroke, move them to a cool area, offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water if they’re alert and seek veterinary care immediately. Heatstroke is a medical emergency.

Let’s work together to keep our pets safe, healthy and cool during this heat wave. ❤️🐾
