14 year old gelding for sale great trail horse
SMOOTH JOG
15.1hh
His owner brought him here for an evaluation lesson the other evening and I got to see him calmly unload off trailer and stand quietly tied , he does know some manuevers on the ground and shes done a great job working wirh him to set him up for success , he doesnt have any refinement type work but hes got a basic understanding of moving his shoulders stopping backing and rides down the trail on a loose rein
I have not personally seen him on trail yet but he will come back next week to trail ride here , if anyone wants to meet them here to meet him shes OK with that too but id happily send you her info to chat more about him . He is a gaited horse but shes owned him 6 years and only trotted him , we did work on finding his gait the other evening and it is most definitely in there , he is lazy in the arena so we had to add some impulsion in there and lift his poll and he starts to find it so it wouldn't take too much to turn him into a gaited horse but his jog is amazing, smooth , his lope too is smooth , I rode him in every gait ba****ck. She says he is more willing to stride out snd walk a nice pace down the trails but ridden on a loose rein, she said he will keep up with a gaited horses walk or adjust and stay slower with qhs , she said hes the ultimate horse to follow in behind another horse on trail and put any level of rider on for that , but if wanting to go out alone she suggests intermediate rider . Shes hauled him all over trail riding many different places, he has stayed in a stall camping snd was perfect, if youre wanting your next mount to camo with or trail riding partner I highly recommend meeting him based off my first impression with him hes pretty cool. If youre wanting something a bit more refined he can absolutely stay for some refinement work if you buy him , but he does know a little about moving his shoulders, leg yielding, backing. Primarily been ridden bitless bc its the owners preference but shes had a bit on him snd will continue to ride him in a bit more until sold incase new owner prefers to ride in a bit. He lives off air so he either needs a place with out a ton off lush grass or needs to stay ridden regularly . She had his feet x rayed at one point to make sure he was OK bc he was very over weight when she got him (hense the cresty neck) but shes done good at keeping him a better weight. . Hes a lind soul and sounds like he will make someone a phenomenal trail horse!! Shes put in a lot of time with him over the last 6 years
