🐾 April is Animal First Aid Awareness Month 🐾

Emergencies can happen fast—being prepared could save your pet’s life.

Here are a few quick first aid basics every pet owner should know:

🌡️ Normal temp for dogs & cats: 101–102.5°F
➡️ Over 103°F? Call your vet
➡️ Over 106°F is an emergency

💓 Know your pet’s pulse & breathing
✔️ Dogs: ~60–160 bpm
✔️ Cats: ~100–160 bpm
✔️ Watch for weak, irregular, or very fast/slow rates

💧 If your pet is overheated:
✔️ Cool gradually (ears, feet, damp towel)
✔️ Offer small amounts of water
❌ Don’t overcool or force water

🚫 Never give human meds like ibuprofen or acetaminophen—they can be toxic

🏡 Take time to learn what’s normal for YOUR pet—weight, heart rate, breathing, gum color—so you can spot problems early.
