An emergency turned into a happy visit! šŸ¾šŸ§€

This sweet boy gave his family quite the scare after eating something he shouldn’t have!

While our team checked his vitals, which were all normal, his owners contacted Pet Poison Helpline for guidance. Thankfully, they determined he could safely be monitored at home! He even got to enjoy some cheese during his visit!

This is why we LOVE Pet Poison Helpline! Their team is available 24/7 to help determine whether your pet needs emergency treatment or can safely be monitored at home.

Although Pet Poison Helpline charges a consultation fee, it’s often less expensive than an emergency exam! In this case, their guidance helped this family avoid an unnecessary emergency visit and additional veterinary expenses.

šŸ“ž Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661

Save this number! It could save you an unnecessary emergency visit while keeping your furry family members safe!

Always seek professional guidance after a potentially toxic ingestion.

Meet Helm! šŸ¾šŸ’™

Helm is a sweet rescue pug from DFW Pug Rescue who came to us after a suspected hit-by-car accident. Although he’s currently unable to use his back legs, that hasn’t slowed him down one bit!

We got Helm into a doggy wheelchair, and as you can see, he wasted no time racing over to his technician to shower her with kisses! šŸ„¹ā¤ļø

Helm has an MRI scheduled for today to help us learn more about his injuries and what comes next.

Help us wish this little fighter good luck today! šŸ€

Meet Luna! After her dental procedure, she was feeling a little extra silly while waking up from anesthesia.

It’s completely normal for pets to be sleepy, wobbly, or a little ā€œdrunkā€ as the anesthesia medications wear off. Our team keeps a close eye on them during recovery to make sure they stay warm, comfortable, and safe until they’re ready to head home.

Luna definitely gave us a few laughs during her post-dental recovery.

Bloodwork is one of the most powerful and informative diagnostic tools available during a veterinary emergency. Your pet’s results provide a real-time look at their internal processes and organ function, ensuring their diagnosis and treatment will be as accurate, precise, and safe as possible.
But bloodwork doesn’t just benefit sick pets—routine wellness screenings at your family vet can lead to early detection of serious diseases, potentially minimizing your need for future emergency care. Protect your pet’s health with yearly wellness bloodwork.

Meet Piggles!

Piggles is currently being treated for hepatic lipidosis, also known as fatty liver disease. This condition can develop in cats when they stop eating for a period of time, causing the body to send stored fat to the liver faster than it can process it.

One of the most important parts of treatment is getting enough nutrition back into the body, so Piggles has an esophagostomy tube (E-tube). This feeding tube allows us to safely give her the calories, water, and medications she needs while she works toward eating normally again.

Hepatic lipidosis can be very serious, but with aggressive nutritional support, treatment of the underlying cause, and lots of monitoring, many cats can recover.

For now, Piggles is rocking her little E-tube wrap and getting plenty of TLC from our team. šŸ¤

Keep cheering on Piggles as she works toward feeling like herself again!

šŸŒ”ļø Do you know how hot is TOO HOT for pets?
🄵 Heat is an underestimated but deadly threat to pet safety. When pets can’t effectively cool themselves by panting, they experience heatstroke, a veterinary emergency that causes rapid internal injury and death.
🄵 While all pets are susceptible to heat stroke, young, old, and brachycephalic (flat-faced) pets are especially vulnerable.
🄵 Protect your pet by limiting their outdoor time during hot weather, providing an endless supply of fresh water, rescheduling walks and activities for the cooler parts of the day, and never leaving your pet unattended in a parked vehicle—even with the windows down.
🄵 Don’t play games with the summer heat. If your pet appears distressed, immediately take them to a cooler area and contact the nearest veterinary facility for instructions.
