I have recently taken up wealth management.

The Adventure Human foolishly arrived at the beach wearing Smartwool socks, which I immediately recognized as a high-value commodity.

While she was distracted picking broken glass out of the sand, I seized my opportunity.

One sock was carefully transported to a vegetation-covered bank, buried, and camouflaged for future retrieval.

The Adventure Human attempted recovery.

She failed.

Apparently my chosen location contained something called “poison ivy,” which sounds like an excellent security system.

Treasure Cache #1: secured indefinitely. 🧦🌿

Treasure Cache #2 was buried beside the shoes for safekeeping. I then conducted a thorough inspection of said shoes to determine whether they contained any additional socks worth adding to my portfolio.

They did not

And yet who currently owns a secret Smartwool cache?

🌘 OPERATION: SHADOW SUMMIT

Agent Lucy reporting.

Yesterday, the Adventure Human said we had an important mission and took me up a mountain.

Excellent. I know mountains.

At the summit, however, she put on tiny dark glasses and became VERY interested in the sun.

Apparently it was doing something suspicious.

I sniffed the air.

Seemed like the same sun.

Then she put the tiny glasses on my head.

I don't know. Humans need enrichment too.

While she investigated the sky, I handled the important work: summit sniffs, breeze analysis, and continuous monitoring of the snack supply.

MISSION STATUS:
🌘 Sun: suspicious
⛰️ Mountain: thoroughly sniffed
🕶️ Tiny glasses: tolerated
🍪 Snacks: insufficient

Apparently that was only Day Shift.

Agent Indigo and the Adventure Human were scheduled for OPERATION: SKYFALL after dark to climb another mountain and investigate reports that stars were going to fall out of the sky.

Unfortunately, the sky started falling early.

It was rain.

OPERATION: SKYFALL — ABORTED. 🌧️

📚 SIDE QUEST REPORT: Operation Shelf Control

Today I accompanied the Adventure Human on a quick side quest to The Toadstool Bookshop, Keene NH .

She said she “needed” more books.

For the record, Headquarters already contains unread books. I have reported this discrepancy before. No corrective action has been taken.

At this point, I believe my role is simply harm reduction. 🫡

Fortunately, enabling her literary problem led us to the shaded patio at Chapters Cafe, where I was assigned the important task of sitting nicely, observing civilians, and monitoring breakfast.

The Adventure Human ordered a breakfast sandwich that was apparently SO GOOD she started making little happy moaning noises while eating it.

Naturally, I assumed this level of enthusiasm meant we were sharing.

We were not.

I watched.

I waited.

I deployed the eyes.

And then she ate.

THE. LAST. BITE.

Operational trust has been damaged.

She also got an iced coffee with coffee ice cubes, which she was extremely excited about for reasons I do not understand. Humans invented regular ice a long time ago. It seemed to be working fine.

The owner of Chapters, however, immediately recognized that an Agent had arrived on the premises and brought me my very own water bowl — with a lid so it wouldn’t spill.

Finally. Someone around here understands field operations.

Mission assessment:

📚 Book problem: actively worsening
🥪 Breakfast sandwich: allegedly incredible; evidence withheld
☕ Coffee ice cubes: unnecessary innovation, according to me
💧 Agent hydration: exceptional
🐾 Shaded patio lounging: 10/10

Would side quest again.

But next time I’m negotiating sandwich distribution before deployment.

MISSION LOG // FIRST CONTACT
Agent Xander reporting

While patrolling the Whispering Woods, I met the smallest traveler I've ever seen.
He was sitting atop a mossy stone as if he'd been expecting me.

"I've never seen anyone like you before," I said.
The little fellow smiled.
"Few do."

I gave him my most polite introduction—a careful sniff.
He nodded as though this was the proper way to greet strangers.

"I'm Agent Xander," I told him. "I explore these woods and help my adventure friends discover how brave they really are."

The little traveler hopped to another rock.
Naturally, I followed.

"And what is your mission?" I asked.

He looked out across the forest before answering.
"I remind the woods that even the smallest among us have an important part to play."

I thought about that.
It seemed like a very important mission.

"And your name?"
He smiled again.
"Around here, they call me Sir Hopsworth."

Before I could ask another question, he gave me a polite nod and another little hop.
"Go on, young Agent. The forest is full of friends you haven't met yet."

So I continued my patrol.....looking a little closer than before.

The Adventure Human appeared to be struggling with bolete identification.

Obviously, I sprang into action.

Step 1: Secure the specimen.
Step 2: Apply one (1) tactical paw directly to the mushroom.
Step 3: Ensure nobody can identify it ever again.

You're welcome.

Unfortunately, the purple mushroom remained unidentified because the human wouldn't let me deploy my Advanced Stomp Protocol™ a second time.

Requesting backup from Mushroom Intelligence.

Mission status:
🍄 Mushroom: Compromised.
🐾 Investigation: Also compromised.
🎖️ Assistance level: 12/10.

🐾 MISSION BRIEF // CLASSIFIED // EYES ONLY 🐾

Attention, Agents...

After an unexpected pause in operations, Headquarters is beginning to come back online. This pup has missed sending everyone on adventures, and I think it's about time we dust the trail dirt off our boots.

A little bird (probably a squirrel in disguise) intercepted intel about the Green Mountain Iron Dog mission in Vermont this September. It involves mud, water, hills, walls, teamwork, questionable life choices, and apparently smoke houses. Sounds suspiciously like my kind of party.

I'm thinking... what if we assembled an Agents of C.H.A.O.S. task force?

No promises just yet—but if we can rally the pack, it could be an unforgettable mission. Whether your goal is to conquer every obstacle or simply laugh your way through the mud with your dog, I have a feeling we'd make an excellent crew.

🚨 FIELD REPORT FROM AGENT ROJO 🚨

I made an oppsie.

While patrolling my backyard trail, I encountered a suspicious groundhog. At first, I was simply conducting an investigation. Unfortunately, the suspect objected to my methods and things escalated quickly.

The groundhog did not survive the encounter.

The Adventure Human likes to remind everyone that off-leash freedom isn't something dogs earn once. It's something we practice for every day.

Today's debrief revealed several important lessons:

🐾 "Leave it" and "Drop it" are life skills, not party tricks.

🐾 Wildlife can make poor choices too. What if it had been a porcupine? Or a skunk? Those outcomes would have been much less exciting.

🐾 Humans should carry backup plans. A spare leash and carabiner can be worth their weight in treats.

🐾 Equipment should be tested. Apparently "full" and "working" are not always the same thing. Looking at you Spray Shield

Most importantly:

🐾 Training isn't about being perfect. It's about preparing for the moments when instincts, excitement, and opportunity all show up at the same time.

The Adventure Human and I will be practicing.

The woods are full of adventures. Some adventures are fun. Some adventures are lessons.

This adventure was definitely a lesson.
