This heat is toooooo much and can quickly become deadly for the dogs x PLEASE everyone exercise caution when walking on these hot days.☀️🐾 ☀️
•
I’ve advised the team to please be extremely mindful of the heat for both the dogs and also themselves - heat stroke comes on quickly!
•
On these hot day we’ll shortened our walks and switch up our routes to try to enjoy more shade and fresh air under the trees as oppose to really getting our steps in.
•
Some visits may also be more of a potty break followed by indoor playtime, enrichment, and pets to keep everyone comfortable and safe.
•
We know dogs love their walks, but nothing is more important than making sure they stay healthy and safe.
•
🔥 Heat exhaustion signs to watch for:
• Excessive panting
• Bright red or pale gums
• Excessive drooling
• Lethargy or weakness
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Stumbling or disorientation
• Collapse or seizures
•
If you suspect overheating:
✅ Move your dog to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned area immediately.
✅ Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water.
✅ Wet their body with cool water, focusing on the belly, paws, and armpits.
✅ Use fans or air conditioning to help lower body temperature.
✅ Contact your veterinarian right away, even if your dog appears to improve.
•
❌ Do NOT use ice baths or extremely cold water, which can cause blood vessels to constrict and make cooling less effective.
