September 20th–26th is National Dog Week, and we’re celebrating our favorite snuggle buddies!🐶

For the entire week, ALL DOG ADOPTION FEES will be 50% OFF! So if you’ve been thinking about adding a four legged best friend to your family, this is the perfect week to come meet your new soulmate! BUT we’re making this week even more special…💁🏽‍♀️ Throughout National Dog Week, we’ll be highlighting some of our staff’s favorite dogs and sharing exactly WHY they hold such a special place in our hearts❤️ Because the truth is, you can’t always get to know a dog by seeing them in a kennel. A shelter can be an overwhelming, unfamiliar place, and sometimes the goofy, affectionate, playful, silly, or downright lovable personality hiding behind that kennel door doesn’t get the chance to shine! Our staff get to see these dogs every single day. We know their quirks, their favorite things, their silly habits, and all the little things that make them SO special🥹🐶 So we’re going to let you in on the secret! 🤫❤️ Keep an eye on our page September 20th–26th… because you might just meet your new favorite dog😍 🐾

It’s Whisker Wednesday! Okay, we have to talk about Oswald… because he appears to have misplaced his fur🤣 Oswald is a proud member of the hairless cat club, and honestly, he is rocking the naked look! 💅 But being hairless means this handsome guy needs a little extra TLC. He needs regular baths to keep his skin clean and healthy, protection from extreme temperatures and too much direct sunlight, and some extra help keeping that natural oil buildup under control! Basically, Oswald has a better skincare routine than most of us💁🏽‍♀️🤣

Too Cute Tuesday! Meet Ryder!

Hi, I’m Ryder! I’m an 8 year old Greyhound with a face that was clearly designed to make people laugh! I’m one of those wonderfully derpy dogs who somehow manages to be ridiculously adorable without even trying! Seriously... have you SEEN me?! I may be a little older, but I’ve still got plenty of personality and a whole lot of love to give. I’m sweet, goofy, and absolutely convinced that being a total goofball is a full time job!! It is just another "Meow-nic" Monday! This "Meow-nic" Monday features adoptable Precious. If her name wasn't an obvious sign.. her little face definitely is! Precious is absolutely PRECIOUS!! She has a sweet, but spunky little personality that you literally cannot help falling in love with! Precious is only 1 year old, so she has plenty of kitty energy! But after that kitty energy is burned off, she is a little snuggle bug! If you are interested in Precious, stop into KAAS to meet her!! 😻😻

Today, we get to share one of those adoption stories that reminds us why we never give up! After 540 days at the shelter, our sweet Adonnis was officially adopted! 🥹 And today is extra special because it marks one whole year since his new mom first met him, right here at KAAS, where she was volunteering❤️

Adonnis wasn’t the dog everyone noticed. When new people came around, he was shy and reserved. When people walked past his kennel, he was often sitting quietly in the corner. It was easy to look right past him and assume he just wasn’t your dog. But his family saw something more. And once Adonnis got into a home, he showed them exactly who he really is. He is THE biggest love bug🥹 He thinks he’s a lap dog, loves his people with his whole heart, and absolutely refuses to go anywhere without his emotional support tennis balls!🎾🤣 Adonnis is proof that dogs are not always the same in a kennel as they are in a home. Sometimes the best parts of them are hidden behind fear, uncertainty, and the overwhelming environment of a shelter. And please, never let a long term resident’s length of stay fool you. Being here longer doesn’t make them any less loving, sweet, snuggly, playful, goofy, or deserving of a family. We encourage everyone to take a chance on our long term residents❤️ Give them the opportunity to show you who they are outside of their kennel, and you just might discover the most incredible dog you’ve ever met.

Jenna and Lane, thank you for not only being dedicated volunteers, but for becoming the absolute best parents to our sweet Adonnis. We couldn’t have dreamed up a better ending for this boy!!🥹❤️
