🖤 WE’RE EVOLVING! 🖤

If you’ve been following Noctua Kennels, I’d love for you to come along with me for the next chapter. 🦉

My breeding program has officially transitioned to Strixenne Great Danes, and with the new name comes a brand-new page!

Going forward, Strixenne Great Danes will be where I’m most active and where you’ll find all of my updates—my Danes, future breeding plans, show adventures, puppy updates, educational posts, behind-the-scenes moments, and probably plenty of everyday Dane chaos. 🖤

Noctua has been an important part of my journey, but Strixenne feels much more like me and the direction I want my program to grow.

✨ So please head over and follow Strixenne Great Danes!
And if you’ve enjoyed following my dogs and my journey here, I’d be incredibly grateful if you shared the new page and helped me get the word out.

I’ll also be transitioning my Instagram and TikTok over to the Strixenne name, so everything will soon be together under one identity.

Same breeder. Same dogs. Same dedication to the Great Dane.

Just a new name, a new chapter, and a whole lot more to come. 🖤🦉

I’ve been dreading having to make this post. 💔

For the last little while, I had this sinking feeling that something wasn’t right with Maggie’s pregnancy. I kept hoping I was wrong and trying not to let myself believe it until we knew for sure.

We went to the vet today to confirm my suspicions, and unfortunately, Maggie is no longer pregnant. It appears that she absorbed her babies.

I’m honestly heartbroken.

I know there are people who will say this is just part of breeding, and I understand that. But knowing that doesn’t make it hurt any less. We saw those tiny babies on the ultrasound. They were there. From that moment, I was already thinking about them, wondering how many little faces we would eventually meet, what they would look like, who they would become, and imagining Maggie with her puppies.

I was so excited for this litter. I had plans. I had hopes. I was counting down the days.

And now there won’t be puppies to meet.

I think that’s the part I’m struggling with the most. It feels strange grieving something I never even got the chance to hold, but I was already attached to the little lives we saw on that screen. I really thought we were going to get to meet them. 💔

Thankfully, Maggie is okay, and at the end of the day her health will always come first. She has absolutely no idea why I’ve been loving on her a little harder today, but I think I need those extra cuddles just as much as she does right now.

This isn’t the end of our plans. We will be trying again on Maggie’s very next heat, and I’m holding onto hope that next time things will be different.

But today, I’m just sad.

I wish we could have met you, little ones. You were already wanted and loved more than you ever got the chance to know. 🖤

🐾 Maggie’s Pregnancy Update – Day 30 🩷

Today we’re officially about 30 days along! 🎉

The puppies are now about 20 mm (around the size of a grape) and are changing so quickly! 🐶✨

Fun Fact: Around this stage, their tiny eyelids and outer ears have formed, their spinal cord is continuing to develop, and—for a short time—their intestines actually grow outside the abdomen into the umbilical cord! 🤯

Don’t worry—this is completely normal and is called a physiological umbilical hernia. As they continue growing, everything moves back into the abdomen where it belongs. Nature is pretty amazing! 💙

Now it’s your turn!
👇 Without Googling…
How many days do you think puppies have left before they’re ready to make their big debut? 🐾

✨ Finally got my cameras for the babies and mama dog and I am SO excited! 🎉🐾

Now I can check on Mama Maggie anytime, whether it’s the middle of the night or during the day. The cameras have crystal-clear 2K resolution with amazing night vision, so I won’t miss a thing as we get closer to puppies! 🩷

And the best part? I can even talk to Maggie through the cameras whenever I want. 🥹 She’ll definitely be hearing lots of “Who’s the best mama?” over the next several weeks. 😂

This gives me so much peace of mind knowing I can keep an eye on her 24/7 while still letting her relax and enjoy her quiet time.

💡 I’m also going to see if there’s a way to do a live stream from the cameras so everyone can follow along with Maggie’s journey and, if all goes well, even watch the puppies arrive! 🤞🐶 How fun would that be?!

The puppy countdown is officially getting real! 🖤 Stay tuned for more Maggie updates from Noctua Kennels!

PS… she’s currently enjoying a beef cheek in her kennel while I’m at work 🙂

🐾 Maggie’s Pregnancy Update — Day 26 & 27 🩶

Our future little Danes are growing fast! Every single day brings exciting new milestones.

🩵 Day 26
The puppies’ external s*x organs are beginning to develop, although their s*x was actually determined the moment each egg was fertilized. At this stage, all embryos initially look very similar before continuing down their male or female developmental path.

🩵 Day 27
Tiny ears are forming, and all four legs—including their little toes—are now clearly visible! Even though their ears are developing now, puppies are born both deaf and blind. Their ear canals won’t open until they’re about 2 weeks old, and their eyes typically open around 10–14 days after birth.

It’s incredible to think that just a few weeks ago they were microscopic cells, and now they’re already beginning to look like tiny puppies. 💙

✨ Question of the day: If you could pick just one trait for a puppy from this litter, what would it be?

* Temperament ❤️
* Structure 🏆
* Color 🎨
* Drive & Athleticism ⚡

We can’t wait to watch these babies continue to grow!
