A little flashback to training in my hotel room for Netflix 🥹 Oh how I wish I could have done the routines we were planning.

It’s so easy to see people’s win and brush it off as luck. But what you don’t see is their failures. What you don’t see is how many times they decided to keep trying.

I’m just not a fan of shaming people and dogs. We are all just trying our best, and sometimes people genuinely don’t know better.

I do think dogs should be doing more trick training, which is why I talk about it a lot. I want trick training to be fun for both the human and the dog, and not just some chore you have to check off on your to-do list.

Poet’s first class at was so much fun!!

Today we had a safe exposure to some of the agility equipment, which Poet was a pro at thanks to all the work her breeder () put in. Then we worked on some obedience and even passed off her Trick Dog Novice title!

You’re gonna be an epic sport dog, Poet.

I’ve been super inspired by .petrakieva to work on my talking videos, but with no cuts and no edits. This is my favorite type of content to watch, so might as well try it out myself. 😁

And yes, I’ve actually been told that people only get border collies because they have egos numerous times. It’s almost like they think they can offend me or discredit my achievements because of the breed of dog I own.

But I got border collies for a reason. They’re exactly what I wanted. Why would I make my life harder with a not so biddable breed just to “prove a point”?

There is space for us all to succeed. Ego or no ego 😉

I think trick training is really overlooked. People focus too much on the trick itself being “useless” that they don’t see the benefits that come from the training process itself!

Now of course, nothing beats a good off leash hike with the dogs. But trick training is just sooo good for both you and your dogs! It provides physical and mental stimulation. Having to work through challenging tricks and building muscle for new tricks is so good for the wellbeing of your dog.

Plus all you need to get started is you, your dog, and some kibble/treats!
