☀️🦜 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR BIRDS COOL THIS SUMMER 🦜☀️

Texas summers can be tough on our feathered friends. Just like us, birds can become stressed by excessive heat if they don't have access to fresh water, shade, proper airflow, and cooling enrichment.

At Bird and Beyond, one of the most common questions we receive during the summer is:

❓ "How can I help my bird stay comfortable in the heat?"

Here are some simple ways to help your bird stay cool and hydrated:

💧 Provide fresh, clean water throughout the day
🥒 Offer hydrating foods like cucumber, watermelon, leafy greens, berries, and melon
🚿 Light misting can help many birds enjoy a refreshing cool-down
🛁 Offer a shallow bath for birds that enjoy bathing
🌬️ Maintain good airflow (never point a fan directly at your bird)
☀️ Keep cages away from direct afternoon sunlight
🧊 Provide bird-safe frozen enrichment treats on especially hot days

Remember, every bird is different. Watch for signs of overheating such as excessive panting, holding wings away from the body, lethargy, or decreased activity.

We are now able to board small birds including parakeets, lovebirds, cockatiels, Quakers, conures, Indian Ringnecks and Caiques. Boarding will be done by reservation via text or Facebook Messenger. Unfortunately, I do not have the accommodations to be able to board the larger birds. Call or text 832-392-9413 with any questions.
