KEEPING PETS SAFE IN THE COLD

With the upcoming cold weather next week, take precautions to keep your furry family members safe and warm. Here are some helpful tips:

- Bring pets indoors, especially at night.

- Consider a sweater or coat.

- Remember cold weather chemicals can be harmful.

- Provide them with warm/dry shelter when outside.

- Don't leave your pet in the car.

Labor Day is a time to relax, celebrate, and enjoy the holiday with family and friends and that includes our pets. While we’re cooking out, traveling, or spending time outdoors, it’s important to remember that these activities can sometimes put our furry companions at risk.

Here are a few simple ways to keep them safe:

✔️ Keep them cool and hydrated
✔️ Never leave them in cars, even for a short time
✔️ Watch out for BBQ scraps and toxic foods
✔️ Make sure they have shade and a safe space outdoors
✔️ Keep collars and ID tags on in case they wander

Our pets are family, too. Let’s make sure they enjoy the holiday as safely and happily as we do. Stay safe, Precinct 4!

Warning! fake frontline sold on eBay linked to feline death.

Cat poisoning in UK has been linked to Counterfeit Frontline spot-on was sold on eBay. The counterfeit product looks very similar to the real product (see below). Unfortunately it contain pirimiphos-methyl, a powerful insecticide that is toxic to cats.

We always recommend prescription flea and tick medications as these products are better regulated and generally more effective. However if deciding to use over the counter flea meds always make sure to buy from reputable sources and closely check labels.
