Well… this is embarrassing 🫠
Today during a FaceTime puppy visit, I confidently introduced a family to…the WRONG PUPPY.
Like…confidently. I talked about her, showed them her little face, explained her personality and carried on as if I knew exactly what I was doing. 😂
And then they texted me afterward wanting to check which puppy it was 🙄
They were absolutely right to do so because I showed the wrong Blenheim girl 😭
I felt TERRIBLE.
Because I know these families are excitedly waiting to meet their puppy. They pay attention to the little details, learn their puppy’s markings and personality, and trust me to know exactly who is who.
So yes — I messed up.
I apologized, corrected it, and made sure they got the puppy visit they were actually supposed to have.
And honestly, this is one of the reasons I want to be open about the reality of running a small, home-based breeding program.
Behind the cute puppy pictures, there are also two very young children, dogs, laundry, meals, messages, FaceTime calls, and approximately 52 things happening at once. 😂
Sometimes the puppies are all doing their best impression of each other, someone needs a snack, someone is crying, the dogs are barking… and apparently my brain occasionally decides to clock out. 🤦🏽♀️
I am human.
That doesn’t mean I take what I do lightly. Quite the opposite.
I don’t want to pretend I’m a breeder who never makes a mistake. I want to be a breeder who owns her mistakes.
If I get something wrong, I want my families to feel comfortable telling me. I want to correct it, learn from it, and improve the systems I use so it happens less often.
Because transparency doesn’t mean only showing when “I’ve got this”. It means being honest when I don’t.
So today’s lesson:
DOUBLE-CHECK THE PUPPY BEFORE YOU START THE FACETIME. 😂
Noted. VERY noted.
And to the family who caught my mistake — thank you for being gracious about it. ❤️
I love my puppies.
I love my families.
And I take the responsibility they place in me seriously.
But apparently I’m not above showing someone the wrong puppy 😂
Welcome to real life at Hanai Cavaliers. 😅🐶
