PLEASE SHARE: A veteran needs our help. He pushes her in a wagon so they can still take their walks together. Now this disabled Vietnam veteran needs help getting his beloved best friend to the ER.
She was hospitalized overnight on Thursday after vomiting, not eating, and having blood glucose in the high 400s. She came home eating a little, but we were told her glucose was still in the high 300s. Now we’re hearing that she has weakness in a rear leg and cannot walk. We don’t know exactly what is causing that or what treatment she will need, and that is why we need to help get her evaluated.
Her dad still owes $674 for the care she has already received. Her insulin costs $96 a bottle, and he buys her pain medication just 10 at a time. He loves her deeply and has been doing what he can, but he cannot afford the additional care she needs. Someone reached out on their behalf because they could see how much he loves her and how much they both need help.
I keep thinking about those walks in the wagon. Even when she couldn’t walk beside him, he found a way to keep taking her with him, to give her that time together. She is everything to him, and right now he needs people to come alongside them.
We are asking for help with an ER evaluation, recommended testing, and treatment. We do not have an ER estimate yet, and we cannot promise what the doctors will find or how this will turn out. We can promise to share updates and the costs as we learn them. He has been trying to care for her with what he has, and we want to help give her a chance to get the care she needs.
If you can give even $5 or $10, please help us be there for them. If you cannot donate, sharing their story and keeping them in your prayers matters too. There is a veteran who loves his girl, a girl who needs help, and an opportunity for all of us to make this a little less frightening for them.
