These are the healing hands behind your pets’ care. ❤️

We have to take a moment to brag on our doctors because we are so lucky to have a team of 5 incredible veterinarians who dedicate their careers to our mission and to providing high-quality, compassionate care to the pets and families we serve.

Special thanks to our friends at Hill’s Pet Nutrition for coming by with a timely food donation!

Our pet food pantry helps close to 200 families a month with pet food for their fur kids. And that takes the support of our community and great partners like Hill's Pet Nutrition.

It's something very much needed and we're happy to do it. Providing a little food for someone helps them keep their pets with them vs. those dogs and cats ending up in the shelter or on the streets.

Thanks, Hill's, and everyone who helps us provide this kind of support to families in need!

A quick update from today’s vaccination clinic.

We know there is a lot of frustration today, and we are truly sorry to anyone who arrived and was not able to be seen. We understand how disappointing that is.

If our communication about capacity or what to expect today fell short, we sincerely apologize. We hear that feedback and will take it into consideration as we plan future clinics.

However, we will not tolerate our staff or volunteers being yelled at, harassed, or attacked in person or in the comments. Our team is here on a Saturday morning working as quickly and safely as possible to serve as many pets as we can.

Today, we are working to vaccinate up to 200 pets. That’s a LOT of pets in just a few hours. Unfortunately, we can only safely and responsibly see so many animals in one clinic. Once we reach our capacity, we have to turn people away.

We are a nonprofit organization hosting these clinics because we believe cost should not be a barrier to keeping pets healthy. Our staff and volunteers are working incredibly hard today to provide care to up to 200 pets in our community, and they deserve to be treated with respect while doing that work.

We are truly sorry if you were not able to be seen today. We know that is frustrating, and we genuinely wish we could help everyone who showed up.

Please keep an eye on our page for upcoming vaccination clinics. We typically host these events once a month on a Friday or Saturday, so there will be another opportunity to get your pet the care they need at an affordable price.

🌽 Did you know corn cobs are the most common foreign body we see at PRC?

Unlike the corn itself, corn cobs don't break down in a dog's digestive system. They can become lodged in the intestines and cause a dangerous blockage that may require surgery.

So please:
🚫 Never give your dog a corn cob.
🗑️ If your dog gets into the trash, throw the cob away and then take the trash out. Don't leave it where they can get back into it.
🌳 Never leave corn cobs outside. Dogs aren't the only ones who find them, wildlife can get into them too.

And don't assume your dog is fine just because they seem okay after eating one. If your dog eats a corn cob, contact your veterinarian.

Pet Remembrance Day 🌈🐾

Today, we’re remembering the pets who may no longer be by our side, but who will always be a part of our story. For us, that means remembering Frank. 💙

Frank was PRC’s unofficial mascot and came to work with us every single day. He was a familiar face around the clinic, a friend to our staff and clients, and just one of those dogs who made PRC feel extra special.

Even though Frank is gone, we still see little reminders of him all over PRC and we’re so grateful for all the memories he left behind.

Today, we want to remember your pets, too. Share a picture of a beloved pet you’ve lost in the comments below and tell us their name. We’d love to celebrate the pets who meant so much to you.

🚨 Hairballs can be more dangerous than you think.

One of our team members recently found this out the hard way. Her cat stopped eating for several days, and when she was finally examined, the problem was a large amount of hairballs stuck in her intestines! 😳

And there was another unusual sign: her breath was HORRIBLE. The hairballs and everything going on in her digestive system were causing some pretty unpleasant symptoms.

When cats groom themselves, they swallow a lot of hair. Usually, that hair passes through their digestive system or gets vomited up. But sometimes, it can build up and become stuck, causing an intestinal obstruction. And that can become an emergency.

🚩 Don't ignore these signs:
• Not eating or eating much less than usual
• Repeated vomiting or gagging
• Constipation or difficulty passing stool
• Lethargy or hiding
• A painful or uncomfortable belly
• Frequent hairballs
• Changes in behavior
• Unusual or foul-smelling breath

Regular brushing can help remove loose hair before your cat swallows it. Keeping them hydrated and talking with your veterinarian about hairball-management foods or products can also help.

And most importantly: if your cat is having frequent hairballs, isn't eating, is vomiting, or just doesn't seem like themselves, don't wait it out. Hairballs aren't always harmless, and an intestinal blockage needs veterinary attention!

Have your pups ever locked you out?

A client came inside with one of her pups when it was their turn for vaccines and left her other two dogs in the car with the A/C running.

While she was inside, one of the pups decided to jump into the front seat and somehow hit the lock button, locking himself and his sibling inside! 😂

We’ve had flat tires, dead batteries and plenty of other unexpected moments, but surprisingly we’ve never had a dog lock himself in a car before!

Luckily, 17 Minute Locksmith was here in under 10 minutes! Everyone was okay, and thankfully we can laugh about it now. Just another eventful day at PRC!

We did it!!! 🥳🎉

We set a goal of $25,000 to unlock the generous match from Terry Garberg and Melissa Eichman, and thanks to all of you, we raised $26,127! That means $26,127 raised + $25,000 match = $51,127!!!

These funds are incredibly important to PRC. They will help carry us through the year and give us the ability to continue providing financial assistance to families who are struggling to afford veterinary care. They allow us to keep saying "yes" when a pet needs help and their owner doesn’t know where else to turn.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, shared the campaign, encouraged others to give, or supported us in any way.
